Life seemed to move on at the grow, and surprisingly everyone got along well. I had half expected Shiva to try and eat Striker, but my overgrown lap cat adored him. She would follow him around the yard, making the chuffing noises tigers make to get his attention. And surprisingly enough, Striker actually seemed to enjoy it.
"You're really good with her," I remarked one evening as I was getting ready to leave. Striker was rubbing the sweet spot behind one of Shiva's ears, making her purr like a motorboat.
"She's just like any other woman," He replied with a chuckle, "You just have to know how to read body language and respond appropriately."
I raised an eyebrow, "Sounds like you treat the lady in your life well then."
Striker's neon gaze met mine as he said in a more serious tone, "I'm not attached at the moment."
Oh. For some reason, his response made me blush profusely. Looking away, I silently berated myself for bringing the topic up.
"It's hard to find a companion these days," He continued, "It seems most nowadays are more concerned with physical pleasure rather than emotional commitment. But you know that."
Yes I did.
