I had to admit, the dinner date with Striker was much better than whatever sham I had gone on with Rev. We had talked and laughed while devouring some of the best ribs I had tasted since coming to Hell. Time seemed to melt away like butter, until it was dark outside and the restaurant was closing.
Striker drove me back to my house and walked me to the steps of my front door. I felt like we were in some cliche scene in a romance movie, but I found that I liked it. Maybe Hollywood had something right for once.
Standing on the front steps, Striker said, "I had best get to the grow. Don't want to let Shiva have all the fun with trespassers."
Then he bent his head, brushing his lips across mine in a gentle kiss. I don't know if it was the setting, the perfect ending of the date, or what...but this felt like a movie moment. Leaning into the kiss, my eyes closed and I just sank into the feeling of his lips on mine.
"I'll see you in the morning," I said, slightly breathless, as Striker finally pulled away.
The imp gave me a wink and tipped his hat as he replied, "I look forward to it, darlin'."
