I thought long and hard, about what to do. Ava didn't realize that if we went along with her little idea, to tip of the D.A. it could cause us our lives. I tried to think of an alternative. A way we could just leave, without causing problems, but then I realized it didn't matter what we did. Hensley would search for us until he found us. This is what he always did. Someone tries to leave and automatically, they can't be trusted, they're a rat.
I was hoping things would be different. Maybe we could tell mom that we needed out of town, that we needed to go to Canada, because that's the one place Hensley doesn't have shipments going in and out 24/7.
As I sat in the corner all alone, Ava took a shower as if we were normal, safe. Jacob was napping. He didn't know any better. Things seemed quiet, being all alone in the corner.
A few minutes later Ava came out of the bathroom in my moms dress, and sat down on the couch, next to my mom. "Babe, come sit with us." Ava said quietly.
" I'm good, I think I'll just stay over here." I took a deep breath and didn't move. I thought to myself, "if she really wants to sit by me she will come over here."
