Quickly scribbling his thoughts on a piece of paper he found, Jimin looked around to make sure no one saw. His friends were either playing around in the water or chatting with one another under the umbrella. So, he shoved the paper in his tiny bookbag for later and joined the people avoiding the sun.
"I'm so glad to be getting some sun, bro," Taehyung said to Jimin as he walked up. "It's been so cold that this is a nice change."
Jimin nodded in agreement, wiggling his toes in the sand. It was a nice day of just soaking up the sun and chilling with friends. They drove two hours out of their hometown just to find a nice place to hang out.
"I wish we could do this every day," Taehyung grunted in response to Jimin's statement and closed his eyes, basking in the warmth hugging him.
The latter watched his friends, who were playing in the waves, and snaked a hand in his book bag to grab his polaroid camera. He snapped a picture of the moment. When the film cleared, he smiled at how aesthetic it came out. 'Definitely adding this to the memory wall', he thought to himself.
He placed the camera back in its safe spot and admired the picture some more. "What are y'all up to?" A familiar voice asked. Jimin turned to Yoongi and handed him the picture.
"We're just chillin'," He responded and grabbed the camera once more. "Stay right there."
Yoongi did as told as Jimin snapped a pic of him crouching with the beach and lavender sky acting as a backdrop behind him. It was so beautiful, and Jimin felt Yoongi blended in perfectly. "Let me see."
The film was gently taken out of Jimin's fingers and held up to the sun to get a clear view by Yoongi. "I like it. Can I have it?"
"No," Jimin replied sternly, taking it back. "It's getting hung up on the memory wall."
The blue-haired boy feigned disappointment, causing Jimin to giggle. "Alright, get a room you two. I'm trying to tan here," Taehyung taunted.
Yoongi stuck his tongue out at him and ran off to join the others in the cool waves. He was splashing around with a huge smile on his face. Jimin's eyes held affection as he looked at the older, endearment presently softening his gaze.
It's rare, but sometimes Yoongi crawls out of his usually cold demeanor and lets himself live in the moment. His duality was effortless as he goes from emotionlessly stoic to an overjoyed toddler in seconds. That happens to be exactly what Jimin is witnessing, as he stares at him giggling and throwing water toward those surrounding him.
Jimin almost gets up to join in the fun, when a soaking wet Jungkook walks in their direction with something hidden behind his back. "Tae, we got to get up and run."
"What? Why?" Taehyung's confused until he looks up and sees the same image daunting toward them. "Oh."
With that, the two get up and start running in the opposite direction of the youngest, who in turn starts running towards them laughing maniacally.
Jimin let himself look back for a split second only to see that the thing hiding behind his back was a water gun. Within that split second everything turned fatal.
Jimin stumbled a bit and had to take a moment to catch himself before he fell over. But before he could recover, Jungkook caught up to him and started shooting water at him. "No! Jungkooooook please!" He begged, falling onto the soft landing of sand while giggling uncontrollably.
Taehyung stopped and came back in an attempt to aid his friend, but to no avail. Jungkook was now sprinkling the both of them.
"Let me join in on the fun!" They all looked in the direction Yoongi was waddling over from. When he reached them, he dropped down to Jimin's level, who was still laying in the sand and started shielding him so he had time to get back up.
By then Jungkook had run out of water ammo and resorted to tickling his victims. His victim is Taehyung.
It was war.
Everyone in their little group had joined and somehow managed to bury Jungkook in the sand. His little head was poking out with a feigned frown, "Guys, get me out I'm sorry." He tried to sound sincere, but a little giggle had made its way through his frown.
Taehyung forgave him and started to dig him out. Everyone else started to pack up since the sun was drifting to sleep.
They were still packing the trunk when a now damp Jimin decided to sit down and watch the horizon.
"Here. I brought you a towel," Yoongi said. He walked up to Jimin with a coral green towel and wrapped it around his shoulders. "Don't want you getting sick." He sat beside him and watched the sunset.
Jimin would've joined in watching as the sky went from a mellow orange hue to a light purple haze, but he was too busy taking in his older friend's features. The way his eyes mixed the colors in a pool of dark brown was indescribably beautiful. He already had the embodiment of art sitting next to him.
Jimin finally turned to watch as the little sliver of sun left peeking up from the horizon drifted down into oblivion. He was content and wanted to stay in the moment forever. He would replay everything in his head tonight, using it to lull him to sleep.
It was a good day.
A bright flash and discernable click brought him out of his reverie, and he whipped his head towards Yoongi, who was smiling with Jimin's polaroid held up to his face. "Hey!" Jimin said. "Give that back!"
"No!" Yoongi countered back, getting up and running for his life towards the truck where most of his friends were waiting. Jimin followed, set on catching him and ripping up that photo.
He despised getting his picture taken.
