As Sterling and April walked, the school bell rang to signify lunch. The two girls looked at each other and with a knowing nod, went their separate ways. They knew they had to be subtle, and not be in each others company too much at school. Not yet anyway.
April watched as Sterling walked away towards the outside grounds of the school. She memorised Sterling's outline, that gorgeous figure she had in her arms moments before.

As Sterling reached the outside grounds she immediately saw Blair waving from a table nearby. She headed straight over and sat down, her body still feeling tingly and light as air. As she sat down she had a glazed look on her face and a big smile. She looked at Blair.

"Let me guess." said Blair knowingly. "You and April doing some extra curricular activities." she said with extra sarcasm, Sterling knowing full well what she was eluding to. Sterling's glazed look dropped and turned into a more serious one. The grounds were busy with people walking towards benches and classes, many people were within earshot. "Ha, don't be silly Blair. She was trying to get me to help with some Fellowship thing, as April always has to organise everything. Neurotic..." Sterling said loudly, just incase anyone had heard Blair's initial comment. Blair laughed, she could see what Sterling was doing. Blair leaned in. "Ok, but seriously. What was up with Luke earlier. What did he want to talk about that was so urgent?"

Sterling explained about the night of the lock-in, how after April had effectively dumped her she kissed Luke in a moment of vulnerability. Blair looked shocked. Sterling continued to explain the conversation they'd had earlier that day, and how Sterling had ended it with Luke. Again. "Poor guy," said Blair. Sterling looked hurt. "Oh, no I don't mean it like that, Sterl. You did the right thing." Blair put her hand on Sterling's shoulder reassuringly. The two started to eat their lunch - Blair had bought them sandwiches from the food truck parked outside school. They chatted about nothing specific as they ate.

Sterling's phone pinged from the table - she had lay it face down next to her. She picked it up still mid-conversation with Blair and saw April had messaged.
"I'm free tomorrow night, if Mrs Wesley's invitation still stands?"
Sterling laughed to herself as she remembered her mom's comment about having April over. She replied that that should work but she'd double check. Her mom or dad might have other plans, and she needed both her mom and dad to be in that night.

Blair knocked Sterling in the arm. "Ow! What was that for?".
"Stop sexting with your girlfriend and talk to me." Blair laughed as she finished her sandwich. Sterling laughed, embarrassed. But she liked hearing the word girlfriend used to describe April.
"She's not my girlfriend, Blair." said Sterling, embarrassed again. "Although mom did say I should invite her over now we're 'friends again'" - Sterling actioned the air quotes with her fingers and laughed - "so I was going to say about tomorrow night..."
Blair looked happy for her sister. "Oh cool. That is really great, Sterling. Are you guys going to tell her about, well, you guys?"
Sterling smiled and nodded quickly, and blushed. "But we're only telling mom and dad. No one else. Well except you, obviously." Sterling smiled again at Blair. "Baby steps. Mom and dad now, other people later. Mom and dad are probably a safe bet for a good reaction, considering April's parents."
"Oh God totally. Mr Stevens would be a total asshole about it." Blair responded, then quickly looked at Sterling to make sure she hadn't spoke out of line.
"No offense taken" said Sterling with a smirk, knowing what Blair was thinking.
"So message mom now, find out!" said Blair excitedly. Sterling did, and replaced her phone face down on the table. It pinged again almost immediately. Debbie had said tomorrow night was perfect.

It was on.

Sterling quickly messaged April back. "Operation Safe Zone is on for tomorrow night :)"
Sterling felt a need to scream with excitement. Blair could tell. "I'm free tomorrow night too, thanks for asking" suddenly Sterling felt a bit guilty. "I'll be there in whatever way you need me, Sterl."
"Thanks sis." Sterling replied and gave Blair a hug. "Obviously we wouldn't do it without you there."
The two stood up from the bench as the bell rang. Math class next. As Sterling and Blair parted ways, Sterling's phone pinged.

"Tell Debbie I'll bring pie for after dinner. But I hope I'll be having you for dessert xxxxx" April's message said.
