After nearly four months without hearing from Rahmat Ali, I eventually met her at a wedding reception in one of the biggest hotels in Abuja. I was invited there by Zarah, the woman whose mall Yazid was currently managing.

Rahmat was obviously in the company of some politicians and was looking really good. They were sitting in one of the VIPs tables, chitchatting and giggling at each other.

The ornaments, gown, and almost everything she wore were just sparkling. Only God knows how much was spent on her on that outfit alone.

I kept staring at her while Zarah was busy gisting me, until suddenly she saw me. The smile on her face disappeared. She excused herself from her people and walked towards the washroom. I knew what that meant hence, I excused myself from Zarah and followed her.

When I was finally there we stared at each other for like forever before I finally broke the silence that crept upon us.

"This is the kind of life you want, huh?" I said in what seemed like a whisper, "Following big men, giving them your body..."

"I am married!" she snapped, making me to drop a jaw in bewilderment.

"Married, like seriously?" I asked.

"Wallahi," she said, "to a Senator" she added.

"Wow!" I expressed, trying to sound like I was happy for her.

"Yeah" she nodded with a little smile on her face.

"So you mean, those people I saw you with are your..." I said as she cut in,

"The one closer to me in the table is my husband, then the other two guys are his subordinates" she elaborated.

"So you mean that old man is your husband?" I asked, imagining how a beautiful woman like her would choose to marry an old, ugly fella.

"Yeah!" she chuckled, "and I love him" she said.

"You love him or you want his money?" I said trying hard to control my laughter.

"I love him for real, Hamid. Trust me" she said smiling.

"I trusted you twice before but you betrayed me, so why should I trust you now?" I said recalling the past.

"It doesn't matter, Hamid. Anyways, I am sorry. I moved on for a reason. I realized we weren't meant for each other, you are a saint and I am a sinner. Two people from two different worlds!" she said, condemning herself.

"Baseless excuse!" I said almost losing my temper, "Do you even know how much time and money I spent on you trying to make your life better?"

"I know, that's why I said I am sorry. By the way I can pay you all your money if you so wish to have them back, just name your price and I will have them transferred to you tomorrow" she said provoking me.

"You think I want my money back? God forbid, I am not that childish!" I groaned clenching my fists.

"Okay, sorry once again please. Our lives aren't just the same, you are too good for me...Hamid. Amani deserves you better, so please take good care of her. I hope one day we would meet again" she said as she walked past me...out of the washroom.

Her words touched me that I couldn't even move an inch for some time. She was indeed a filthy human being that could only live with someone like her.
