Later that night, Edward and Wendy were lying in bed. Wendy was lying in Edward’s arms, shaking a little. She’d just had a nightmare about Charlie and Edward was trying to soothe her so that she could get a little more rest. They both agreed, before going to bed, that they would call Eddie’s parents and postpone the dinner for about a week until Wendy recovered. Wendy was relieved; she didn’t wanna be like this when they made their big announcement.

“Shh, hey,” Edward whispered in her ear, rocking her a little. “He’s gone. I’m here now and I won’t let ANYONE hurt you, okay? You’re safe now.”

Wendy nodded, then whispered, “But it was so scary, Eddie. He would’ve killed me if the cops hadn’t come. I’d be dead right now.”

“DON’T SAY THAT!” Edward screamed, shaking her. “DON’T YOU EVER SAY THAT AGAIN!”

Wendy started crying and Edward immediately felt bad. “Oh God, Wendy. I’m sorry. I-I shouldn’t have yelled...”

She just shook her head, burying her face in his chest as she silently cried. Her voice was still out a little and she couldn’t fully speak still, let alone make much noise. Edward held her tight, soothing her gently. “It wasn’t your fault, Eddie. I was crying because of him. Because of what he did.”

Edward nodded. “Still, I shouldn’t have yelled at you.”

“Don’t worry about it,” Wendy whispered, tracing her fingers over the bandage on Edward’s upper arm. “You never did show me those tattoos.”

“Too much going on today,” Edward said, smiling a little as he reached over and turned on the light. He removed the bandage from his arm, revealing the tattoo.

It was a heart with small numbers in it. Wendy ran her fingers over it, puzzled as to why Edward would get a bunch of small numbers tattooed in a heart...and then it dawned on her. She looked up at Edward with wide eyes.

“It’s our dates, babe,” Edward said. “This one is the date we first met. This one is the date of our first date. This one is the date of our first kiss. I left some room for our engagement, our wedding, the births of our kids....”

Wendy just smiled a tear running down her cheek as she flung herself into Edward’s arms. He hugged her tightly, kissing her ear. “Do you like it?”

“I love it,” Wendy whispered, smiling.

“I got one more,” Edward said, sitting up and pulling his shirt over his head. Wendy saw another bandage, this one above the Harry tattoo. Edward peeled the bandage away, revealing Wendy’s name right above Harry’s.

“I have two people who own my heart now,” Edward whispered, taking Wendy’s hand and placing it on her name. “You’re above him because you’re the love of my life and the only one I ever wanna be with forever. Harry’s my twin, so naturally he always will have my heart in some way. But you’re my girlfriend and I hope someday to call you my wife. Forever, Wendy. I want us to be forever. You have my heart forever.”

Wendy hugged Edward tight, smiling against his skin. Edward kissed her hair, grinning. “I’m glad you like them, babe. Harry got the same thing for Louis. His name over his heart and the whole heart-thing. I gave him the idea.”

“Aw,” Wendy whispered. “Eddie?”

“Yeah, babe?” Edward asked, pulling back to look her in the eyes.

“Can you help me forget?” Wendy whispered. “I mean, I know I won’t be able to just completely forget about it so quick. I just want you to help me take my mind off of it, just for a little while. Help me take my mind off of it.”
