Martyn slowly walked through the forest, drops of rain falling off the green leafs and onto his already wet mess of blonde hair. He clutched his arms, eyes puffy and red from crying and his cloths tattered and ripped. He was not in very good shape to be wandering the almost deadly forest. His cheeks and the tips of his elven ears were bright red and his toes felt numb.

He sighed, looking up in confusion. He hadn't been looking where he was walking and now he didn't where he was. Great. He sighed and whimpered, but then he heard and small cry from the left which made him squeak in surprise as he jumped. He stood there, paralyzed since he didn't fully hear what it was. He held his breath and waited for the sound again.

The cry sounded again and he tilted his head in confusion. That didn't sound deadly or scary in the least. It sounded helpless.

He stumbled over to the bush, still shaking from the cold rain drops that rolled down his arms and he pushed the leaves aside only to come face to face with a small, terrified deer. The poor thing has one of the bushes thorny vines wrapped around it's leg and scratches all over it's shaking body.

He slowly held his hand out toward the deer, but it shuffled away in fear, letting out another cry.

"Shhh" he cooed to the deer, trying his best to hide his fear "I-i'm not gonna hurwt you fwend" he smiled at the animal, moving his hand toward the deer's head again.

The deer flattened it's ears but moved his head forward to come in contact with the nature spirit's hand. The blonde smiled and petted the deer's head slowly and thinking of how he could free the deer without causing anymore damage.

He slowly moved his hand toward the vine, but quickly retracted his hand when a green spark started forming in the palm of his hand.

"Wh-wha?...." he whispered shakily as he stared at his hand in horror.

The baby deer cried out again, which brought Martyn back to reality. He shook his head to remove that moment from his brain. He moved his hand open toward the vine and, as expected, a green light started to form in a circle at the palm of his hand. He moved his hand so it was almost touching the thorns and they slowly unwrapped themselves from the deer's leg.

He slowly helped the deer out of the bush, carefully pulling the delicate creature past the thorns to escape further injuries. The deer eventually stumbled out of the bush, slowly limping away and into the arms of the nature spirit. He smiled and slowly petted the deer, completely forgetting how cold he was just mere minutes ago, and picking out a few stray thorns that stuck in the deer's coat.

"There" he smiled "All we neewd now is too fiwnd somewhere sawfe..." he grinned.

The deer made a small sound of agreement, standing close to the young boy, shaking with fear once again,

"Hey, it okway! We will find a pwace!" he said soothingly to the deer.

Eventually, they started moving forward again, slowly but surely they made their way through the dark forest. To Martyn, the forest didn't seem like home anymore... It only brought him sorrow when the trees wailed in the wind and pain when the leaves fall off the tree from being pulled away by the wind.

They walked for a while, Martyn's teeth chattering and the little deer's body shivering. They weren't going to make it out of this forest alive if they couldn't find a place to stay and the little spirit couldn't even remember the last time he had food, or anything for that matter. He glanced at the deer, no, he couldn't keep calling his little friend that! It's unkind and rude to him.

"Hey, do you want a name?" he asked the deer, both of them still shivering.

The deer made a little sound, which to Martyn sounded like a yes, but how is he supposed to know? He IS only 4.

A small smile was plastered on his face, trying his best not to start crying in front of the deer, "We neewd a good name though! Hmmm..." he mumbled as the deer stumbled forward onto his face,  but just as the spirit boy was going to help him up, he stood up slowly giving a little huff.

Martyn grinned,"How about Yakul? L-luwke said there was once a bwave deer who he-hewlped a pwevios king and he was a hero!" he stuttered out, trying him best to talk clearly and correct his mistakes.

The deer gave out a small, happy sound and Martyn smiled a genuine smile, not a forced one.

"Come on Yakul! Lewt's go find a pwace to stay!"
