“So what’s the deal with ole boy?”
Laura was back in the car with Michael driving her around. Laura looked out at the window not sure what to say.
“What did you do to him?” Laura asked.
“Nothing,” Michael smiled. “I just said I saw him. Now what’s the deal with him and how does he help this process I’m doing?”
“He works for the guy I was telling you about,” Laura answered.
“Uh huh,” Michael said. “Why was he stalking you?”
“He thought I was playing him,” Laura replied. “He said people told him they saw me with you and he got all jealous like he was my man and shit?”
“Is he?” Michael raised an eyebrow.
“No, he was just somebody…you know,” Laura lowered her head a little bit.
“You were fucking on the side,” Michael said. “I get it.”
“I wish you would stop talking and looking at me like I’m the slut of the week,” Laura proclaimed.
“I never said you were,” Michael said. “But you aren’t winning the award for Miss Goody Two Shoes either? Look, like I said, I kind of got a handle of how you are and that’s cool. I don’t judge. Not my place. But I still need to know the story with ole stalker boy?”
“I told you,” Laura said.
“That’s it,” Michael said. “Nothing else?”
Laura looked at Michael. What did he really want from her?
“What else you want there to be?” Laura asked.
“So is that nigga tight with the head man around here?” Michael ignored Laura’s question.
“What is it that you really want from me?” Laura inquired. Michael was too hard of a person to figure out.
“I just want to know ole boy story,” Michael said. “You told me this dude can help me. You said that. Now if he’s just some stalker ass nigga you gave the cooch too and I’m wasting my time, I’m going to be heavily upset. Then I’m going to help homie make sure your life is a living hell after I apologize to him for making me sic the wolves on him.”
“The wolves?” Laura asked confused.
Michael pulled over his SUV truck in a nearby spot like he did before.
“Look I got no time for games,” Michael said as soon as he turned the engine off to face Laura. “I told I’m going to start something here and I thought you were the person to help me.”
“I am,” Laura said. “I can. Just tell me what you want?”
“I want you to be honest with me and stop goating me around,” Michael said. “I’m about to make things happen and I don’t need anything or anyone interfering with the process. I told you I can help get what you want as long as you damn sure make sure I get what I need.”
“He works for the guy I was telling you about,” Laura said. “I wasn’t lying about that. But he was someone I dealt with from time to time. He never acted like this before. I was scared. That’s why I called you. I didn’t know what to do. And then my mother kicked me out. I…I…”
Laura couldn’t get any more words out as tears started pouring down her face. She felt so drained. She had no one to turn to. She couldn’t go to her mother. She couldn’t turn to her best friend because half of her problems, a major part, had to deal with the man her best friend was messing with. Only person she could confide in was a stranger who only was using her. This was the story of her life.
