Michael drove Laura around after dinner. He needed someone that knew the neighborhood to point out certain things.
“Why you think I would know where the weed spots are at?” Laura asked arms crossed in the passenger side. “I can’t believe I’m still with your ass after you disrespected me at the restaurant.”
“Ain’t no one disrespect you,” Michael replied. “I just told you what it was and how it is. It’s cool if you don’t want me to pull your card but I’ve been around enough dealers to know when someone’s bluffing and has a tail.”
“You think you know me so well,” Laura said. “What about you?”
“You don’t need to know me,” Michael said. “I’m just a guy at your school who you think is cute.”
“You are so full of yourself,” Laura stated.
“Do you want to be full of me?” Michael smiled.
Laura shook her head. “Cockiness is not cute by the way.”
“Yes, it is,” Michael said. “And I’m not cocky, I’m confident. That’s what’s separates me from these lames out here.”
“You act just like them,” Laura said.
“Please, you don’t believe that and you’re the one saying it,” Michael said. “Now I know where some spots are.”
“Why? What are you a cop?” Laura asked.
“Yeah, I’m an extra from 21 jump street,” Michael laughed.
Laura was confused but she assumed he was trying to make fun of her.
“Look, I don’t know what that means but I’m tired of you playing me,” Laura informed.
“No one is playing you,” Michael assured. “I told you before I’m trying to set up a side hustle and I know you know where things are happening at.”
“Why would you think that?” Laura asked.
“You’re cute, sort of have a suave personality, a little ratchet,” Michael spat off.
“Ratchet?” Laura was offended.
“The type of girl a hustler would get involved with,” Michael said.
“You must think I’m some sort of serious hoe for you to assume that,” Laura really hated how Michael was talking to her but she still didn’t want to leave his presence yet.
As much as she hated to admit it, she loved Michael’s cockiness and strong street swagger. If he didn’t call her a hoe flat out from the door, she would have shown him how good her mouth was. But Michael already categorized her and she was trying to fight his stereotype. But what really got her goat about Michael was that he was interested in Mariyah as well.
“I told you I don’t think you’re a hoe,” Michael smiled again. “Just perceptive.”
Michael had to know what his smile was doing to Laura because he kept flashing it and her panties kept getting wetter and wetter. Laura wanted some of that thug loving so badly but she had to keep her composure. She had to show him she wasn’t that type.
“Like I said, I know very little,” Laura said. “If I deal with a guy, I don’t deal with his business.”
“Bullshit,” Michael responded. “Dealing with a guy is dealing with his business. And for a girl like you, I know he has to be on point with his.”
Laura didn’t know if that was a compliment or another insult. She took it as a compliment for the time being.
“Even if that was true, he wouldn’t let me inside of his business,” Laura said. “I would be an outsider looking in.”
