The Strange Mark

Since Ron had been back, he'd been trying to get on Hermione's good side. It was funny to watch but I felt bad for the poor guy. It wasn't totally his fault things happened the way they did. Evil was a temptress and anyone as tired and depressed as him would have gone towards the darkness when it would crook its finger. I guess it was more personal for Hermione, though she wouldn't admit to herself why that was. She kept up her aloof attitude with Ron and basically ignored his presence every time he was near.

At the moment, we were all sprawled out in the living room area trying to come up with a plan for our next move. I was sitting with my back to the arm of the couch and my feet on Gabriel's lap, who was sitting next to me with his head leaned back. Harry was sitting in an arm chair while Ron was laying on the floor and Hermione sat opposite him with her back to the couch I was sitting on. We all lounged about quietly, each of us too focused on our thoughts. And once again, when we were all stuck, Hermione broke the silence.

"I want to see Xenophilius Lovegood..." We all turned to look at her as if she had grown a second head.

"Luna's father? Why?" Gabriel asked. Hermione showed her book that she had inherited from Dumbledore, to him and I and pointed to an unusual mark inked into the front page. A prickly sensation came over my chest as I looked at it. I rubbed my chest uncomfortably and Gabriel looked over at me, sensing my discomfort. The mark was a triangle with something that looked like an eye in it. It was a triangle, with a circle in it and a line going from the point of the triangle to straight down in the middle of the circle, dissecting it. Hermione took the book back to show Harry and Ron.

"This mark was inked in for some reason and it's the same mark that was on Ignotus Peverell's grave in Godric's Hollow--"

"That's also on Grigorivich's shop, and Lovegood was wearing a necklace with that symbol at the wedding," Harry interrupted quickly. He had told us before on several occasions about his odd dreams/visions that he received when Voldemort was really emotional. He had visions of Voldemort visiting a wand maker named Grigorivich and asking him where a certain item was.

"Exactly, I think Xenophilius might have an idea as to what this symbol is. I know it'll take us off track on finding the Horcruxes but this is the only solid thing we have so far. It keeps popping up everywhere," Hermione explained.

"I agree. I...I have this feeling about that mark. I think it's something important that'll lead us to the right path," I chewed on my lip, looking at everyone's expressions before settling my gaze on Gabriel's. He nodded in agreement.

"So it's settled? We're going to Luna's."
