Glasses

Danny let his bags fall on the floor, too tired to get them to the spare bedroom Steve had made up for him.

He wasn’t happy that he was staying at Steve, he barely managed through the day, sharing a car and being together almost all day and not act on his feelings for the man.

Now he had to spend every waking moment with him and not kiss him.

He landed himself on the couch and looked at the black screen in front of him. He heard Steve coming down the stairs and he turned and looked at the man, a pair of glasses resting on his nose.

And at that moment, Danny’s mind went blank. Since when has Steve worn glasses, why is he so hot wearing glasses, why is he doing this to my sanity?!

«Oi, Danno, you good?» Steve’s hand waving in front of his face snapped him out of his inner rant, causing him to take a step back in surprise.

«Steve, my best friend, since when have you worn glasses?!» Danny all but yelled at Steve who just looked at him with a dumbfounded expression.

«Wait, you haven’t seen me with glasses before?»

«I- no???»

«Okay yeah, I usually wear contact lenses but I got an allergy so I’m wearing glasses for the time being till I get new ones, I went to my optic today and he told me that» Steve explained.

«Also when I am home I don’t use my lenses, I prefer my glasses, they are easier to use, in the field they would break tho and they aren’t cheap Danno. Anyway, will you move your things or do I have to do it for you?» Steve asked and nodded to the duffle bags.

«You do it, I’m too tired, get dinner too, and I don’t want to see this fruit on my pizza okay?» he said, before his head dropped on the arm wrest and threw the rest of his body on Steve’s couch. Steve laughed at his partner’s antics and followed his orders as he picked the duffel bags up and walked away.

Danny thought that if he had to get tortured by watching Steve with those glasses, he at least had to make him pay for it.

After one very difficult night and one even more difficult morning for Danny, they left, together for work.

«How come you never told me about your myopia?» Danny asked

«I don’t know, it never came up I suppose, it’s not something I like to talk about you know» Steve said and looked at the road.

Danny was gonna ask more if they hadn’t arrived at the palace.

«Chin you don’t wanna miss that, come out» Kono yelled as soon as Steve and Danny walked inside the office.

«You are very funny Kono, you know that?» Steve said when they stood around the table, Chin too.

«Why the glasses brah?» Chin asked.

«I have myopia guys, I just had an allergy and have to give up my lenses for a few weeks, no big deal, tell me about the case»Steve said so they could focus on the job instead of his glasses.
