I slowly open my eyes squinting because of the bright sun, glancing at the watch next to me,
7:43
I smile and turn to the other side when I realize, I start work at 8.
I immediately open my eyes throwing the covers off me and jump out of bed.
I hear a groan behind me and I turn around, oh shit forgot I'm not home.
I stand still for a long moment trying to remember how I ended up here, when I finally realize.
My eyes widen with realization and I beat myself over how stupid I was. I run my hand through my messy hair and sigh, I had to wake the guy up, I needed to know where I was.
I looked around the room and noticed how small it was, yet so clean, the total opposite of my room.
I walk up to him and get stuck, how the hell was I supposed to wake him up?
I put my hand on his shoulder ready to shake it, when I hear a small voice outside his room.
"Sweetie?"
Oh crap.
I give the guy a harsh push to wake him before I quickly go under the bed, which surprisingly enough was a clean area.
"Darling?" The owner of the feminine voice walked in this time and I saw her small feet, wearing a pair of simple black socks.
"Oh are you okay? You look like you've seen a ghost!" The women said, her feet rush to the bed and I hear the boy groan, "mum I'm fine stop it," his voice is muffled slightly and the mother takes a step back.
"Did.. Did the nightmares come back?" She asks in terror.
Nightmares? Pfft.
"Oh Jesus Christ mum stop! please get out I'm fine!" I could hear how awkward he felt, he knew I was still here.
"Honey don't feel em-"
"Mum, please?" He pleaded.
"Okay okay," she said sighing, "I came to check up on you, you came back really late last night." She adds concerned. Aw, his mummy's little boy.
"Sorry, I was helping Life out." He muttered under his breath and his mum stood still for a moment.
"Just..don't do it again," the boy wants to comment on that, I could hear him start his sentence but his mother cuts him off, "anyway, breakfast is ready." She quickly walks out and closes the door behind her. Jesus.
"God she's overprotective." I say rolling from under the bed,not getting up yet.
I just looked up at the ceiling wondering if it's really a bad thing.
"What the hell? You scared me! Because of you she thought -"
"You had a nightmare?" I smirk and turn my head slightly to look at him.
"Shut up I don't have-"
"Wow." I say frowning and he shuts up, "what?" He asks confused.
"Your eyes, they're.." I stare at him, one eye was light blue and the other dark green, I've never seen something like that before.
"We established that last night." He rolls his eyes getting out of bed giving me a lazy kick.
"Ass," I grumble gripping his leg making him trip.
"Oh for the love of god!" He glares at me and I get up shrugging.
Another glance at the watch made me realize I was going to be very late, but I calm myself down, I'll just lie I'm sick or something maybe he'll let me go this time, as if.
"I need to know where I am, there's a place I have to get to." I look down at him as he gets up from the floor, glaring.
He tells me the address as he walls to his closet to change.
"What?" I ask, I was almost sure I didn't hear him right, but as he repeated himself I knew, that this boy lived right across from Tanner's old house.
"We first have to sneak you out though," he sighed turning around to finally face me, holding in one hand a clean black shirt.
"Hey, are you alright?" He asked when he saw how I zoned out, having flashbacks back to when Tanner was still here. He was the only person I ever really got along with, beside Mark and Taylor, but after Mark's death me and Taylor had almost completely stopped talking.
"Uh yeah sure," I dismiss and start going for the small window. I look down and mentally sigh in relief, it was fairly high but had a soft landing of dirt and flowers.
"Are you going to jump that?" The boy said in total disbelief.
"Obviously." I roll my eyes and put on leg out before turning around to look at the boy, I almost laughed at his wide eyes full of terror, "you could break something!" He frowned at me but I just shook my head. "It's just the second floor, plus a soft landing." I raise my eyebrow before throwing my other leg out and let go.
Well not exactly, facing the old brick wall I'm still holding on to the window frame with one of my hands, like this the fall would be somewhat shorter.
"Oh my god you come back in right now I don't need a dead man in my neighborhood!" He said in a high pitched voice sticking his head out the window holding to my hands.
"If you keep annoying me there will be a dead man in the neighborhood, you." I free my hands and let go, landing legs first on the flowers.
I see black for a moment and my legs are numb, I try hard to just breath so I won't pass out now.
"Are you okay?" The boy which only now I realize his name I don't know, asked.
I slowly open my eyes, and steady myself before I would fall again, slowly standing up.
"Shut up! "I shout at him when he starts to mumble hysterically that I don't look okay.
I feel a sharp pain in both my legs and try my best to wall straight as I go through the familiar neighborhood.
"Hey wait up!" I hear the boy's voice and see him run out of the building shoeless.
"I.. I need you to do something," the boy starts and I try to focus on him to forget the pain, "what now?" I say irritated.
"I need you to pay it forward." He says seriously and I laugh, "are you seriously quoting that movie? That's like, literally the tittle, "Pay It Forward." I shake my head and wince, I felt like someone was stabbing me time after time.
"I'm being serious! Just.. Help someone out and ask them to do the same." He pleaded.
"A. We're not in some drama movie, this is real life with real shit. And B. You chose the wrong guy to help, because truthfully, I just couldn't care less about others. I have better things to do." I say flatly and turn around, trying not to bend over with pain.
"You're just another selfish bastard who couldn't care less about anyone, no wonder you had nowhere to go." He spat at me.
"You don't know the first thing about me so shut up." I clenched my fist and kept on walking as best as I could.
"Oh? So big boy here has a shitty past? So what, that doesn't give you the right to treat others lik-"
"I said shut up." I turn around to see his been following me and grab the front of his shirt.
"You have no right to tell me that. Because last time I checked you have nice goddamn house and a loving, caring mother. So don't you fuck with me kid, go play your stupid games elsewhere." I pushed him and glared hard, he had gotten on all my nerves.
"Looks can be deceiving." He glared right back at me and walked back in, leaving me frustrated.
