Chapter 5: Visionare

Hello! Are all of you doing fine? It's been awhile! I know I took a long time updating and I'm really sorry for that. Aside from having a bigtime writer's block, my work keeps piling since the pandemic started. Finally, I had this story updated though I feel I'm getting rusty. Bohoho. Hopefully I can also update my other stories but for now here's the Chapter 5.

"I can't understand why such a cursed person like you is still allowed to be here." A man who seems to be a year older than the Scorpio saint with copper colored hair said as he stomped a blue haired young man who was on the ground.

"If only the Pope wasn't kind then this brat had already been dead." The other one, with coal hair and scarred arms remarked.

"Should we be doing this Jen, Kou? If someone sees us bullying Defteros..." The third one, smaller than the other two worriedly asked the two as he looked around them but was only received a scoff.

"Che that's why you can't even ranked up because you are a coward, Li." The so-called Kou replied as he shook his head as he keeps on stomping the one Li called as Defteros.

"That's enough. The guards might notice that we are not in the chamber. Let's leave now." Jen spoke and the three left.

Defteros slowly sat up as he swats the dirt on his body. He was used to such treatment ever since he became a trainee. He thought that once his twin brother, Aspros became a gold saint, the abuse and bullying would stop but it didn't. "Do.. I really belong here? Am I really fit to be Athena's saint?" Defteros whispered to himself with his head hanging low. That was then he noticed a pair of dainty feet stopped right on his front. Looking up he saw a hooded person and to his surprise, that person touches his face and he started to glow. The pain he felt earlier disappeared and what was left was a subtle warmth and scent of flowers he can't recognize.

"Are you feeling better?" Ah. Such a clear voice, so she is a woman.

"Yes. I.. thank you but pardon me, who are you? A young lady should not be out of their homes at this time."

"I'm sorry. I should had introduced myself." The lady laughs a little which made Defteros flustered. "I am Melpomene and thank you for your concern."

As he heard the name Melpomene, Defteros hurriedly kneel and salute a proper greeting to the goddess. Never in his wildest dream he thought that he would personally meet the infamous goddess and with this situation nevertheless. Oh how embarrassing it is to show his ugly side not only that he even thought she is a normal person!

"No need for that. Rather, would you grant me a favor?"

At those words, Defteros perked up. "Under Athena's guidance, I will do my best to fulfill it, Melpomene-sama".

"Then, would you mind joining me with my late-night walk?"

Defteros was taken aback. It was not the favor he was expecting of. It is somehow, shall he say, a peculiar request from a goddess that he was rendered speechless.

"It is quite an odd favor wasn't it? But I am not familiar with the Sanctuary so I need a companion and I am not fond of many people that's why I have this late-night walk."

"I...yes. I no. I mean." Defteros don't really know what to say. If it is an order like getting her a scarf or escort her back to the main hall then he would easily accept it but strolling with the goddess? How can a lowly one like him be a goddess companion?

Melpomene, who seems to understand what's running on the other Gemini's mind decided to speak. "Then shall we go?" Melpomene offered her hand to Defteros. He was already embarrassed with his appearance and now he feels like he wanted to dig a hole and jump on it but he can't just refuse the goddess, right? It would be a disrespect as a saint of Athena so though reluctantly, he accepted the offer. As their hands connected, Defteros could feel how soft and smooth the goddess Melpomene's hand is contrary to his own which full of callouses.
