Promises

(Part 1)

Two people were standing outside in the darkness, their eyes locked.

Her eyes were full of love and regret, while his eyes were full of hatred and rage.

She pleaded for forgiveness. He knew he would never forgive.

Promising that he would come back for revenge, he turned around and left her.

Promising to wait for him, she still stood there with the hope that he would come back and let her explain.

The night was dark like everything inside her. He was angry and he had all rights to be like that. But not with her. He should have been angry with her father who was responsible for all this mess. He should have realized that she just tried to protect him. Why didn't he want to listen to her? This all wasn't her fault. Her father was the one who was responsible. It was him and only him.

Five years later

She was standing in front of two people and saw how one of them put a huge amount of money in the hand of another. One was the man she loved as a child and the other was the man she loved as a woman. Her father's face was red at the moment his eyes touched hers. She saw his deep guilt. Arnav's eyes told her something else. He seemed deeply satisfied. His eyes didn't show any care, love or sympathy.

His hand opened and he walked towards her, leaving her father behind with the money in his hand. His eyes were cold while roaming them over her body from top to bottom. He leaned to her ear when he had reached her and spoke.

>>See, I kept my promises. Not like you. I told you I would come back and here I am. Say good bye to your daddy and come down. I'm warning you. Don't keep me waiting too long. You don't want to see my other side.<<

He was out of the room and she walked to her father.

>>Dad?<<

Her father hugged her. His shoulders started shaking and he cried.

>>I am sorry. We went bankrupt. We would have lost everything if I hadn't made this deal.<<

>>What deal, daddy?<<

>>I sold you. You are his mistress as long as he wants you to be.<<

Her whole life shattered at the moment her dad spoke. The person who should protect her, gave her away as if she was an object and took money in return. He didn't act like a father, but a stranger who wanted to protect his ownership and sold his child in return.

She felt her father's hands on her shoulders.

>>Listen Khushi, do whatever he wants you to do. Don't refuse his touch or anything else. Submit yourself to him and obey his wishes. Don't do anything stupid, otherwise I have to pay all money back and it is something I can't do.<<

She opened her mouth to say something. Anything. To let her anger out, or to plead her father not to do this to her.

>>Please.<<

Her father closed his eyes.

>>I can't save you, Khushi. I need to think of your brothers and our family.<<

>>And what am I to you?<<

He hugged her and she knew it's for the last time.

>>Everyone needs to make sacrifices. One day you are going to understand my decision, my child. Please give me your promise that you will do whatever he asks you to do.<<
