Y/n POVWe arrived at Hogwarts after what felt like years of travelling. After entering the building, in large huddles, we walked down to a bunch of stairs. At the top, an older lady waited for us to arrive. She seemed quite strict but I thought Hagrid was scary at first so maybes not.
"Welcome to Hogwarts. Now, in a few moments, you'll pass through these doors and join your classmates. But before you can take your seat you must be sorted into your houses. They are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. Now, while you're here, your house will be like your family. Your triumphs will earn you points. Any rule-breaking, and you will lose points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points awarded the house cup."
I groan as I'm not the biggest fan of lectures. I don't think anybody is to be fair.
"Trevor!" Shouted a boy. He said as he knelt down in front of the professor to pick up his frog.
"Sorry."
Everyone laughed quietly at him. Ron on the other hand was dying. I've known him for about 1 hour and I can already say 'typical Ron'.
"The Sorting Ceremony will begin momentarily," she said walking away.
"It's true then, what they're saying on the train." A boy perked up. I turned over my shoulder to see Draco Malfoy leaning against a pillar. I knew him off my uncle. My uncle and his father are work friends. What they do I have no idea as he will not tell me until I'm older. Maybe it's because he thinks I'll make fun of him or whatever I'm not sure. It must be an important reason for him not to tell me. My uncle is like a brother to me so maybes it's for the best I guess.
"Harry Potter has come to Hogwarts." As his words trailed off a swarm of whispers filled the silent room.
"This is Crabbe, and Goyle. And I'm Malfoy. Draco Malfoy."
I've been quite close with Draco ever since I was younger. With my mum dying, I used to stay with Malfoy and his mum while my uncle and his dad worked. I never particularly liked him that much though.
Ron giggled at his overly confident speech. I nudged his arm for him to shut up but he just kept going.
"Think my name's funny, do you? I've no need to ask yours. Red Hair and a hand-me-down robe? You must be a Weasley. And for you, y/n, I don't suggest hanging around with these...people." His attitude was the thing I didn't like. He was always a 'look at me' type of kid.
"We'll soon find out that some wizarding families are better than others, Potter, as for you Cameron. You don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort. I can help you there."
With no hesitation he put his hand out in the middle of me and Harry, expecting us to shake it.
"I think we can tell the wrong sort for ourselves, but thanks," I said with a grin.
Just before his mouth could open, the professor came back and tapped him on the shoulder. With one last glared he went out of our faces and back to his friends.
"We're ready for you now. Follow me."
I was glad that that had ended quick enough.
The doors to a grand hall opened by themselves. As we step foot inside, I noticed that it was full of the entire school, which also means the entire school were going to watch us for the ceremony. Great.
