Time was very important to Kunikida. His most versatile notebook was flled with timetables, schedules, daily routines and the amount of times Dazai interrupted those valuable errands. Kunikida could not for the life of him understand why the boss decided to pair him up with Dazai. This scheming man seemed to love nothing more than to delay Kunikida and mess up his routines. Maybe there was some philosophy behind it all, but Kunikida just couldn't find a reasonable argument that explained why his partner was so set on being a constant menace to society and himself.
With that being said, the ex-mafioso did have a knack for keeping Kunikida on his toes. Even on a grey day like today, Dazai would surely find a way to make the taller man grind his teeth together.
"There have been reports of pocket thefts that are linked to the Port Mafia. I want the both of you to go scout out the location and report any suspicious behaviour." Fukuzawa stood in front of the two agency members. Kunikida listening intently and looking professional as ever. The whole scene made Dazai snicker under his breath. But even so, the Port Mafia committing petty thefts?
"They're most likely looking for something to do," Dazai came to the conclusion as the duo walked down the busy streets of the city. "Either that or there's something specific they're looking for." Dazai was unusually relaxed for such a crucial investigation.
"Do you really think its just petty thefts? The Mafia wouldn't waste their time on it unless there was something they were looking for."
"Or someone." Dazai came to the conclusion, furrowing his brows in thoughts his colleague would never dream of understanding. Kunikida read over the missing items reports in his folder as they moved.
"Most of the items reported missing were no more than pocket change or keys. What do the mafia want that needs so many keys?" Kunikida spoke his frustrations out-loud.
"They're a group of highly skilled thieves, assasins and masterminds. With that being said, most of them don't trust one-another," Dazais seemed a little too confident with his explanation, he continued. "It's safe to say that these thefts are being pulled off by an individual."
"You seem to know your ins and outs of it, don't you Dazai?" Kunikida spoke in a questionable tone, but his statement was never answered as he caught the ex-mafisos eyes watching the Ferris Wheel that gave Yokohama its tourism.
The thefts in question were located around the harbour, right by the cities Ferris Wheel.
Dazai looked up at the giant wheel and began to ponder how he could really mess up Kunikidas day."Don't you even think about it. We're here on a job, not sight-seeing." Kunikida seemed to be the only one interested in finishing the work. Why on earth dazai was skimping around Port Mafia business, he would never know.
"My head was empty Kunikida," Dazais reply was such a blatant lie, and so were the next words that came out of his mouth. "See that man infront of us? He just pulled something out of a woman's coat." That seemed to direct Kunikidas attention elsewhere. Dazai should have felt bad, even remotely so. But watching Kunikida loose his mind over someone out in the open was popcorn worthy.
"Hey- you!" Kunikida had spooked the man in question as he made a run for it. The hooded figure led Kunikida through crowds of people as Dazai slipped away undetected. Unfortunately for this man, the blonde agent now had his arms twisted behind him.
"Running away from a detective, a very smart move." Kunikida pulled the supposed thiefs hood back to reveal none-other than a poor victim caught in the misfire of Dazais shenanigans."Damn it Dazai." The agent handed over apologises and a business card, promising any compensation for his outwardly inapropriate behaviour.
Before he knew it, Kunikida had lost his suicidal partner, on top of that he interrogated an innocent man out in the public eye. He'd have to make a mental note about sending apologetic gifts to the witnesses. And give Dazai a mouthful for messing with him once more. It shouldn't be hard finding that man, he had a good idea of where Dazai was.
The view from the top of the Ferris Wheel was spectacular, even upside down. The scene of such an astranged man hanging from a carriage was beginning to attract the attention of curious on-lookers. Dazai had pulled many public stunts in the past, but this by far would have to be the most outrageous. No safety gear, no soft landing, and apparently no brains. But Dazai did have the brains to go out of his way and lead Kunikida on a wild goose-chase. There was something seriously messed up with this upside man.
"Jesus Dazai." Kunikida muttered under his breath, standing underneath the hanging man. The blonde agent began to see the uproar and excitement stirring in amongst the crowds. "Alright there's nothing to see here, move along please." The blonde man did his best to break up the crowds surrounding the Wheel. But there was no moving the hundreds of people, elated by the maniac on The Ferris Wheel. Arms outstretched as possibly hundreds of phones recorded this shameful act was not something Kunikida could control. It was bound to cause the agency whiplash if these videos ever got out.
It was completely possible that Dazai could fall to his death. Kunikida wouldn't put it past him, if that was the man's objective. Maybe falling from such a great height was on this suicidal man's bucket-list. Kunikida wouldn't let that happen though, much to Dazais dismay people needed the man to be alive.
"Kunii-kiii-daaa." Dazai dragged out his name in an ecstatic tone, clearing one of his objectives was to make his poor colleague suffer today. "It's just as beautiful as I had hoped, it would be such a thrilling experience to die from this height!"
Dazais ecstacy did nothing to ease the anxiety that was swelling in the other agents chest. 'You will have to take precious time out of your day to stop your work partner from attempting daily suicides' was not written in the job description."And traumatise the city? You're going all out today." The taller man's sarcasm cut into Dazais words. "Don't make me come up there." Kunikda watched as his partner swayed in tune with the breeze. His usual attire hanging loosely on the man's shoulders as the earth's gravity beckoned for him to come down.
Much in Kunikidas favour the Wheel stopped turning, clearly the operators had spotted the problem and were taking all precautionary measures to get the crazy man down. Dazai breathed in the cool air, feeling the heat in his face rise. "It's such a blitz! You should join me kuniii-kiii-daaa."
"Clearly the blood rushing to your head is making you more lucid than usual." Unfortunalty for Dazai, his trip around The Ferris Wheel was cut short when his partner pryed him off the outside of the frame. "You need to put your ass back in line Dazai, you're setting a horrible example on behalf of the agency."
"We are supposed to be an influential group," Dazais words were cut short when he noticed the dangerous glare in his partners eyes. Now running for his life with Kunikida hot on his tail, he was kicked all the way back to the office. "Okay, okay im sorry!"
Kunikda liked to managed his time well. Dazais hobbies included wasting that time. It seemed that because of those reasons, and their clashing personalities, they were able to co-exist with the indestructible bond they had created. Even if Dazai was getting whipped into shape every once in a while by his partner.
