Kara is the daughter of Josette Laughlin and Alaric Saltzman. When she was born both of her parents were only freshman in College so she was given up for adoption but she was never adopted but she was placed in the foster system and for the first 4 years that is where she stayed but just before her 5th birthday she was adopted by her biological father and his fiancée Isobel but when she was 14 there were big changes in her life, first one was that her mother disappeared and believed dead and the second was that she became a vampire slayer and she discovered that magic existed and she was something called a Siopher witch. Her father gave her a necklace that would help with her magic or help so that she would not siophner from any other magical creature or person she met on accident and then he became her watcher and helped train her. He also helped her grieve the loss of the only mother that she had ever known. Kara is a very smart young women, she is kind caring and very trustworthy she has long dark hair and dark eyes she is very much her father's daughter. When Alaric gets a new job as a history teacher in Mystic Falls neither of them have the slightest idea of how much trouble and adventure, danger and maybe even family and love in Mystic Falls

Kara has a passion for history and literature, she can also speak and read many languages
