Fubuki leaned back in her expensive office chair, the plush leather molding to her body as she wracked her brain. It was only after she sent Lily home, after confidently promising to help her with her training, that she realized how potentially disastrous that could be. While her preliminary test had identified Lily as a genius level esper, she...probably wasn't the best teacher for her. It hurt to admit, but now that her excitement was starting to wear off and the realities of teaching such a promising young Hero settled in, she had no choice.
Who did she think she was? Lily was King's daughter. There were so many other Heroes out there who were better qualified to be her teacher. She could only ride on Lily's coattails if she had the skills to grab hold of them in the first place.
She stood from her chair, the force of the movement sending the poor thing spinning helplessly in her wake.
"Eyelashes," she called as she stepped out of her office, heels clacking on the tile as she made for the exit. "I'll be back later. Hold down the fort for me."
She didn't wait to hear his response as she stepped out into the bustling city. Though the Blizzard Group's building wasn't exactly in the urban center, it was the time of day when people were rushing home from work or heading out to start night shifts so the sidewalks were rather crowded. That was fine. The more people milling about, the less likely she was to be recognized.
Usually, she made sure to occupy the most eye catching spaces in the hopes of gaining more fame and prestige as a well known Hero, but her task today required a certain degree of discretion.
Her greatest concern regarding Lily's training was what form her psychic abilities would take. Though she knew King had a few energy based attacks in his arsenal, she had no idea where they originated. 'Energy manipulation' was a very vague term that only described the end result, not the entire mechanism. For all she knew, King's abilities were psychic in nature and Lily had inherited her incredible power from him. It was also just as likely that his abilities were based in something entirely different—something Lily may have inherited on top of her abilities as an esper. She already knew the Engine had some degree of sentience. If Fubuki somehow triggered an odd reaction from it or other dormant powers in her student through faulty training...
She didn't even want to imagine it. The thought of causing Lily harm was sobering enough, but thinking of what King would do if anything happened to his child was petrifying.
She had to do this right. There would be no second chances.
The first step was to educate herself on what abilities her student may have inherited from her father. After looking through Lily's memories, Fubuki knew the Strongest Man wasn't the most forthcoming with information about himself. He preferred to play video games with his daughter than to train her in anything useful, which...Fubuki couldn't really blame him. She wanted to, but she knew King only saw Lily every once in a while and he probably didn't want to waste their time together talking about Heroism. Still, these were things Lily needed to know. The Enging alone might one day prove a threat to her life, so shouldn't he be more willing to tell his child about himself? For her sake?
Whatever. Fubuki didn't have free access to King the way Lily or Tatsumaki did. She would have to rely on other sources.
A little bell jingled as she stepped into the book store but the teenaged cashier didn't even look up from their comic. Fubuki wasted no time heading to the Heroics section, dragging her long, manicured nails along the spines of books as she looked for the one she needed. King was a popular Hero, but a private one, so most of what people knew of him was purely hearsay or fictional. Only one of the many books could really be trusted.
