If someone told Lily of her future, that her search for her father would lead her to learning of her blood relation to the S Class Hero King, and that she'd end up under the tutelage with the other S Class Hero Tornado of Terror, she would have certainly called you crazy.
Now that she was being carried away in the air by Fubuki's older sister, Lily wasn't sure what the future held in store for her. She knew the life of a hero would be full of surprises and strange new experiences, but these changes were sudden and intense... but not unwelcome.
Lily stared at the passing Cities with a sense of awe. She hadn't ridden in an airplane, so the sight was a wonder. So many people spread across the world, all of whom she has to protect now.
A question knocked Lily out of her thoughts. "So have you actually used your powers?" Tatsumaki inquired.
Lily shook her head. "Not yet. When Lady Fubuki and I talked about psychic training, we were thinking of including the rest of the Blizzard Group in it! She wanted to teach them all at least one technique."
Tatsumaki scoffed. "Tch, what a waste of time! Unless any of those other losers are conveniently related to an S Class... that won't make them less useless."
Lily felt mildly offended at her friends being insulted in front of her, though not being considered one of those useless was a substantial change of pace compared to before. Lily hoped her parentage and new powers wouldn't cause a rift between her and the Blizzard group when they learned about it. Lily dreaded the day the world found out and she'd be put on the spotlight, being interviewed and swarmed by fans constantly. She didn't have any training for public!
"Huh?" Tatsumaki was suddenly uncomfortably close to Lily, a hand of hers on Lily's head and green eyes inspecting the girl closely.
"Good thing King came to me, I doubt my sister would be qualified to teach an esper more powerful than her. It'd just end up holding both of you back."
"Oh." Fubuki would hold her back? "Well uh, thank you for helping me! I'm really honored to be taught by the second in S Class!"
"Whatever. Look, I'm just doing this as a favor for King. Normally I wouldn't just up and train some random Esper, but since you're related to King I can make an exception, if you become at least as half as competent as him I'd call this a good use of my time. He's not as annoying as most of those other S Class losers."
That really made Lily feel better.
"The real question is: How much power can you draw out to start with? We'll go to a large, nice and empty mountainous area, since there's no people so we can let loose a little and experiment a little if we need to."
Anticipation and nervousness wracked Lily's mind as she continued to observe the change of scenery, going from urban to forested and then to mountainous.
They landed on a flat open clearing between some trees and rock formations. Plenty of space for their private training session. Tatsumaki stood only a few feet away, and to Lily she looked a lot shorter when not floating.
"So." The Tornado of Terror started, "To put it bluntly, ESP is just like a hand, arm, or eye, and you can quite literally use it as all three. It isn't physical, but in your head, and it takes mental effort to draw it out for use like any limb. That's basically what psychic powers are." Tatsumaki explained
"That makes sense."
"Now this isn't some school lesson where you graduate at the end, I'm a busy hero after all, and so will you when you start exerting your powers more. There are also a few lessons that can only be learned when fighting monsters. A hero just needs to be able to deal with monsters and rescue civilians, nothing more and nothing less. I'm just making sure you know the basics of how to use psychic powers then your on your own."
