I am the skeleton in the closet
Pushed to the back
Beside old winter jackets that have been collecting dust since 2003
Above your outdoor shoes from elementary
The ones you cried in when you scraped your knee
I am behind all the years that fly by me
Making it harder to be seen
You'll never know me
You might if you hear me sing
But the words will sting and I don't wanna make you weep and I don't wanna hear you scream
So I stay unseen
For you see, these days have nothing to give to me
I am the skeleton in the closet
The secret taken to the grave
Dead until I know my own name
