Wicki woke up beside Azalea, smiling softly. She looked so peaceful while she slept, he didn't have the heart to wake her. He got ready in her room, and walked back in to find her awake. Her eyes brightened at the sight of him. "Good morning Wilhelm."
He laid back in bed and wrapped his arms around her, smiling. She looked so soft, so fragile in the morning. "Morning hasi." They laid in bed, small talk until there was nothing left to talk about. That's when she remembered what day it was, the day he would go to the underground basement and talk to the spy. They had a couple more hours together before he had to start getting ready.
Azalea finally left the room, and bumped into Donny in the hallway who wore a shit eating grin. "You finally get laid firecracker?" Oh god, was she that loud? Her face instantly heated up, she couldn't believe it. Donny noticed her embarrassment. "Wicki too huh? Giving him a boost for that mission?" The medic shoved him. "Shut your face Donovan!"
He laughed, ruffling her hair and leaving the hallway. Thankfully, only Donny was beside her room. She prayed that she was not loud enough for anyone else to hear her. Wicki came from behind her, his arms curling around her waist. "What's got your feathers ruffled?" Azalea cleared her throat, leaning back into his embrace. "Oh, just Donny being himself." His laughter rumbled against her back.
"Let's get you some breakfast.", he guided her down to the breakfast bar and they both made plates. As they ate, Azalea smiled at him. There was something so homely about Wilhelm, something that made her feel like if the war ever ended, she wouldn't feel at home without him by her side. "Wil, what do you plan to do after the far?" He smiled, swallowing his food.
"Following you to the ends of the Earth." Her heart fluttered at his words, and she smiled so hard it hurt her cheeks. When she finished her meal, her eyes scanned the room. They locked with Hugo's, and her heart dropped. Would he hate her now? Hate Wicki? She couldn't just forget the chemistry they had.
She put the plate away, about to walk over to him, when Donny politely grabbed her wrist. "Azalea, tell Omar's dumbass that baseball is better than football." God, she couldn't get in this argument with him right now. "Uh, Don, I'm a tennis kinda gal." He released her arm and sighed almost angrily. "No taste! None of you!"
The redhead finally made it to him. "How you feeling about the mission tonight?" Hugo didn't seem bothered. "It's just another mission. Why?" She leaned on the wall beside him, sighing and lighting up a cigarette. "I have a bad feeling, like that feeling I had when we were rushed and they got Andy. I don't know, I'm just . . . worried about you." Hugo scoffed and took the cigarette from his mouth. "You shouldn't worry about somebody like me." She narrowed her eyes at him.
"Hugo, I care about you. We've already been over this. I want you to be okay." He was quiet for a minute, without a word, threw his arms around her tightly. It caught her off guard, but she hugged him back.
Her head rested on his shoulder, taking in his musky smell. Hugging Hugo was like protecting and feeling her inner child at peace. Azalea knew nothing could happen to her while beside him. In his arms, she was safer than if she were the gold bars in Fort Knox. Hugo finally let her go, but she stayed with her arms around him. "Hugo, I'm so worried about you. If something bad happens I couldn't live with myself. You deserve the entire world and you haven't gotten to experience anything outside of war." Hugo sighed through his nose, guiding her to his room. Azalea was taken back, not used to him taking the lead with her, ever.
"Azalea, do you really think I won't make it out of that bar? You care about me that much that it's making you a nervous wreck?" Ouch, okay. But he wasn't wrong, every time she would think about the mission, her stomach would tie in knots and she would get physically sick. "Yes Hugo."
