It took a few seconds for the ludicrousness of this statement to sink in. Then Ron voiced what everyone was probably thinking. "Rose you have gone mental." "Ridiculous!" said Hermione faintly. I was about to speak again I heard a loud creak behind me. The bedroom door had opened of its own accord. All five of them stared at it. "Who is it?" I said staring across the door. I started thinking hard while Ron spoke up. "This place is haunted!" "It's not," said Remus, still looking at the door in a puzzled way. "The Shrieking Shack was never haunted... The screams and howls the villagers used to hear were made by me."
I realized something and pointed my wand at the empty doorway. "Don't you test my patience because I won't think twice before shooting a hex on whoever you are." "What is it?" Sirius spoke as I turned. "Well I am hundred percent sure that someone who shouldn't be here is here...Harry where is your Invisibility Cloak?"
"I - I think I left it somewhere. I can't remember."
"That's right," sneered a cold voice.
Severus Snape was pulling off the Invisibility Cloak, his wand pointing directly at Remus.
BANG!
Thin, snakelike cords burst from the end of Snape's wand and twisted themselves around Reamus's mouth, wrists, and ankles; he overbalanced and fell to the floor, unable to move. I stared in shock as Remus tried to break free.
"Professor... I am utterly sorry but didn't your mother tell you it's bad to eavesdrop?" I said pointing my wand at his direction. "Miss Lestrange! I just saved you from a convicted murder and a werewolf." "I know but sadly that convicted murder is my mother's best mate and that werewolf is one of the few people I can give my life for." I said before speaking out.
"EXPULSO"
Blue light with dozens of sparks flow from my wand. Snape blasted backwards and fell to the floor unconscious. "That earned you a whole year's detention." Ron spoke with his voice shuddering. "I know right. I am doomed." I spoke looking at Snape. I started again. "Ron hand me that rat." "That rat has got a name. Scabbers. And I am not handing it to you." He spoke back "Ron. I won't hesitate to break your second leg if you don't hand him over." I spoke looking at his legs before turning my eyes on him again. He stared at me in shock before slowly extending out Scabbers from his hand.
"We'll do it" Sirius and Reamus spoke in unison.
I handed over Scabbers to him while it began to squeak without stopping, twisting and turning, his tiny black eyes bulging in his head. A flash of blue-white light erupted from both their wands. I also tightened the grip on my wand. There was a blinding light and Peter Pettigrew stood at the place where Scabbers once was. He looked at each of us before staggering over to me "Rose...I and your mom were very good friends...You will help me, won't you..." He spoke with his voice shaking like mad. I point my wand at him "Give me one reason why I shouldn't do it and I will help you." I said looking with a look of hatred and continued almost-shouting. "Do you realize how difficult it is to live without your parents? How difficult it was for Harry and me? You don't, the only thing you know is how to hide behind strong and more powerful people and betray them. Right?" He looked at me in shock. "Why are you surprised? That I know way too much." I spoke while taking a steady step backwards.
"Err — Mr. Black — Sirius?" said Hermione. Black jumped at being addressed like this and stared at Hermione as though he had never seen anything quite like her. "If you don't mind me asking, how — how did you get out of Azkaban, if you didn't use Dark Magic?" I sighed and spoke "I don't know why people call you a Know-It-All." She stared at me and opened her mouth to say something but closed it again as I started "Isn't it obvious? Sirius knew he was innocent and then he saw Scabbe- I mean Peter in the newspaper. So he sneaked past one day in his Animagus form. I thought he was there to kill Harry, Ellen and me. But I soon found out that Peter is alive."
"You remember Ellen?" Sirius spoke.
With a wave of revulsion, I pointed my wand at his direction and croaked "Don't you dare say her name from your mouth." He freezed on the spot while I continued. "I have never forgiven you...and I never will." I paused taking a deep breath as the dried tears came back to life and continued.
"I was 7 when my mom died." I sniffed. "She was killed in front of me by Bellatrix. The day after Ellen disappeared. I was devastated. I had no shoulder to cry on. No one to put my trust on...You know one day Lucius was so angry he made me stand in the snow for the whole night. I stood there in the hoped of meeting Ellen. It was funny for you wasn't it? Seeing me do all those horrendous tasks just to meet her. I never wanted to celebrate my birthday but I used to wait for it every year just to receive my letter from her. It was tremendously funny. Right?" I looked at Sirius as tears fall down uncontrollably. I wipe them with the sleeve of my robes before Harry spoke up. "Let's not kill Peter and then we can search for whoever this Ellen is?"
I looked at him in confusion while Sirius spoke up turning his head towards Peter who was now on the floor. "No, I have waited too long. I will kill him right here." Harry lunged himself forwards and spoke up "Sirius, Noo! My father will not want you both to become murderers because of him." I went over to Ron and extended a hand while speaking. "Harry has got a point. We can send Peter to Azkaban and...Sirius you will be freed as well. We should just hope to reach the castle without any hurdle." I put my wand on his broken leg and mutter a small spell. "OW!" He shouted as his leg move from the wide angle back to its place. "I am not an expert but this is the best I can do." He took my arm as I helped him to his feet. "Let me finish my side of the story." Sirius spoke as Ron slightly groaned and flopped back on the bed.
I turned to face him as he started. "Ellen is safe and sound. He has got great friends but sadly for her safety I can't tell where she is." I stared at him with wide eyes and waited for the impact to calm down. "So - so the letter I - I found was true. You have her?" I gulped as he nodded. "Can't I meet her?" He shook his head in a no. I nodded my head because I knew it was for her own safety. "Let us get going. I want to go to Madam Pomfrey." Ron groaned as I pivoted on left heel and again helped him to his feet.
I had never been part of a stranger group. Crookshanks led the way down the stairs; Remus, Peter, and Ron went next, looking like entrants in a six-legged race. Next came Professor Snape, drifting creepily along, his toes hitting each stair as they descended, held up by his own wand, which was being pointed at him by Sirius. While I, Harry and Hermione brought up the rear. "Well... You know...now that I am freed... Harry and umm Rose...If you ever want to have umm...A different home...You are always welcome." Sirius spoke trying his best not to make eye contact with us. It was as if an explosion had taken place inside me. Looking over to Harry, it seemed he had the same effect. "You mean to say live with you? Leave the Dursleys?" Harry spoke looking dazed. "For real? When should we move in?" I said looking at him while my inner soul was jumping from the inside.
Sirius smiled and took out a photo that I can say was not kept in a good way. It was slightly torn from all the sides. I took it in my hand but and furrowed my eyebrows together. "You and Harry were supposed to be best of mates. You mom was in Slytherin but she was kindest person you will ever meet." Sirius spoke. "That means you have not gone on your mother at all, because I can proudly say that you are not the kindest person I have met." Harry spoke as I nudged him in the ribs causing him to break into laughs. I grinned and looked up to find Sirius smile as well. The difference it made was startling, as though a person ten years younger were shining through the starved mask; for a moment, he was recognizable as the man who had laughed at my birthday twelve years ago.
