Welcome to yet another episode of me trying to get cancelled for being too honest about my opinions. :)

But, eh, right? :))

Here comes the most challenging part. Are you ready for it?

I'm sorry, but Dynamite, Butter and PTD are absolutely... Averting.

Especially after bops like Fake Love, DNA and all their older title tracks. When I first heard about Dynamite being an all English track, I was skeptical. And for good reason, that. I could practically h e a r Namjoon cringe-laugh at the "all English album" question in my head lol

That said, I knew it would be better received than all their other songs. It's no secret that most of their fans are an English speaking crowd and people would eat it up no matter how horrible the music was. No matter how bad the line distribution was. No matter how... Unconceptualized it was. How... Mainstream.

Now, being mainstream isn't always a bad thing. Hopefully, I'll be able to put up a whole chapter about this, before I get cancelled. xD

BUT.

Wtf are the lyrics to Dynamite? Did HYBE assign one of their staff's kids to write it while they were at daycare or what?

"King Kong, kick the drum
Rollin' on like a rolling stone."

... Huh?

How did we go from such well written songs like I Need U, Butterfly, Run, BS&T, etc to... Whatever that was? Who allowed it? Who sanctioned those lyrics? Because I wanna fire you rn. -_-

If you were expecting Butter to get any better... LMFAOOO.

"Side step right-left to my beat,
High like the moon, rock with me, baby."

I'll just leave it at that. :) I've nothing to say to that. :) Continues to smile a pained smile. :)

Also, I really wished they'd done what other groups like NCT do. (Now, here's the part where y'all pounce on me skjdnsnd)

Releasing English versions to songs that are already recorded in Korean as an extra is such a good idea. I'm surprised HYBE and BTS didn't do it yet. Of course, NCT's English lyrics are... Well, they're either questionable or raunchy. :D

However, when you look up the translations of the Korean versions, you'll realise that none, and I mean absolutely NONE of them have had their meanings compromised. They've concepts being visualised and executed. I'm so sorry, but it's what I was expecting from BTS. And when I didn't get it, I was understandably disappointed.

At the same time, I want to pull up the lyrics for Black Swan. It's absolutely genius. Every aspect of the worries of an artist falling out of love with their art is depicted in the best way possible. Even the simplest of lyrics have such a deep meaning.

"Do your thing, do your thing with me now.
What's my thing? What's my thing, tell me now."

It's incredible, the way it flows with the music. Their emotions were so real and this was probably the first time since 2018 and the last time ever since that I ever felt that tug at my heart.

Yoongi, Namjoon and Hoseok are extraordinary songwriters, tbh. They know exactly how to phrase their thoughts and ink it. Of course, there are many other names linked to the sincerity of BTS' lyrics, but I want to stick to the members solely. Don't hate me, plis. :D

Anyway, the moment I stopped being able to connect with their lyrics, I stopped ACTIVELY listening to them. I say actively because I was too busy to get into other artists in 2019. (I was going to write some vvv important exams that year and it was necessary that I fare well.) And I think that's justified.

Anyway, while we're at it, why don't you quote some of your favourite lyrics to me in the comments? Ones that are closest to your heart?
