If you're still here... Well, thank you for not cancelling me just yet! :D
I definitely admire your patience and I sincerely want to thank you for it. Hopefully, you'll be able to keep that chill, because this chapter is about to get heated... Again.
Le sigh.
I feel like y'all know by now that I ain't going to hold back. If I'm going to reason it out with you, I'd like to lay down all my cards face up. I want you to see exactly what I've to bring to the table.
ANYWAY.
I got distracted, sorry. :D
Now, we all know that Namjoon and Yoongi are some of the fastest k-idol rappers. And considering they were supposed to debut as a hip hop group, it totally makes sense. Hoseok's techniques are no joke as well. Hell, I'll go as far and say that his stability is the most commendable. Man has the ability to jump around on stage, have the most immaculate stage presence, rap flawlessly and be completely unfazed.
Like, is oxygen a joke to you, sir?
While it is untrue that Taehyung and Hoseok's positions were switched pre-debut, I do believe that Hoseok would make a top notch vocalist with the right training and time. His ease on stage is almost scary.
(I GOT DISTRACTED AGAIN. HELP.)
Now, can HYBE or BTS of one of y'all p l e a s e explain to me why they aren't being given the spotlight they deserve?
Yes, I completely understand that they've been moving forward from their hip-hop-rap inspired concepts onto more vocally centric songs (about which I shall rant in the next chapter. Yes, it might seem like contradicting points but they won't be if I'm able to word them well. Promise. c: ) but I do not approve of the rap line taking the back seat.
👏We.👏Need.👏To.👏Appreciate.👏Rap.👏Line.👏More.👏
Y'all can't change my mind. :)
Before y'all come at me for this, let me admit to something. I'm a vocals kind of person. I honestly prefer vocals over rap. Rappers have done absolutely nothing wrong to me, but I just can't stand rap songs for some reason. Except a selective few.
Now imagine, if a person like me who's completely non-rap oriented is saying something like I love their rap— yeah, that's how you know they're GOOD good.
I didn't think I'd ever be able to appreciate rap, but songs like Daechwita and Ddaeng proved me wrong.
Yoongi's verse in Cypher pt. 2, Namjoon's lines in Cypher pt. 3 and Hoseok's part in Cypher pt. 4 will always have a special place in my heart.
P.S.— there's a certain performance of Cypher where Hoseok says "I wanna get sleep time" and rolls his head around. DEAR GOD, I was so stunned by him that performance. He's so popular yet I shall dare say he's underappreciated sometimes.
(I would insert a link in the chapter, but I strongly believe that it disrupts your flow your reading. It's why I've held back from adding any graphics so far. Anyway, for anyone interested, I'll link it in the comments right here. → )
Another important thing you need to understand and keep in mind here, is that though Yoongi is my bias wrecker and Namjoon is an outstanding rapper by himself, it's Hoseok's rap style that I adore the most. His stylization is the one that checks all my boxes. The reasons for which, I shall clarify in my next chapter.
With that said, I sincerely hope they'll give rap line more lines. The pathetic line distribution of their English songs disheartened me so much. And I understand that it's THEIR choice. However, that doesn't mean I'm not allowed to have expectations. Ones that were, unfortunately, not met.
Don't hate me too much, plis. :D
Until next time,
Strawberry.🍓
