Marinette looked over at the new girl. Lila Rossi an exchange student from Italy said to have a big reputation and was already starting to make tons of people like her. Yet as she looked at the girl who had managed to become a rising star in their school she noticed how lonely looked. She sighed. She was about to do something stupid but...

"Hey," she had waited for everyone to leave before she approached Lila. The brunette looked at her with a friendly smile.

"Yes?" She sighed giving back the smile. She held out a hand.

"My name's Marinette Dupain-Cheng, you must be the new kid?" Lila nodded shaking it.

"I heard a lot about you, sounds like you're a cool person," Lila's smile tightened.
I'm not I'm really not

"Oh you're flattering me, but I'm sure you're amazing too, tell me about yourself," the question had been simple and half hearted but when Marinette talked Lila found herself listening. Her life sounded so simple. So normal. So...true...

"Lila? Oh my god! Is everything alright!?" She only then noticed she had started crying. She tried whipping them but they kept falling.

"I-I'm sorry I don't understand," she laughed at her own attitude. Marinette must think I'm pathetic,
So pathetic,
And such a goddamn fake
But her eyes widened when she felt a handkerchief being pressed against her wet cheek. She looked at Marinette. Blue eyes filled with kindness.

"It's alright, no need to apologize, I'm here you know," Lila frowned. Why was she so nice to her? She really didn't have to...

"Thank you," she said taking the handkerchief. Marinette nodded leaning back on the wall. Lila glanced at Marinette. Someone like her didn't deserve to be lied to.

"I'm from a small town," Marinette looked at her.

"Huh?" She clenched the small cloth.

"I've never left my town until last week, I've been lying all day to everyone," tears started to come again. Marinette looked at her.

"Why?" She asked. The tone wasn't harsh. It was soft. Like a mother comforting her child.

"I-I didn't want to be alone," she said. Knowing that didn't justify her actions she cried harder.

"I-I'm always alone and I have enough of it so I made this fake character," Marinette sighed. This girl seemed to have gone through a lot and delt with it all alone. She unconsciously lifted her hand patting her head. Lila snapped her head to her. Marinette gave her a warm smile.

"It's okay Lila, we can be friends," Lila's eyes widened.

"Even if I lie all the time?" Marinette smiled.

"It's alright, I'll make sure you don't lie," with that said Lila felt as though she finally had been accepted. Marinette stood up stretching. She turned to Lila and grinned. The brunette felt her heart jump. Marinette held a hand out to her.

"C'mon!" Lila smiled whipping the remaining tears before she took her hand. Marinette pulled her along to their friend group.
