It was at least past midnight by now, and the girls had been walking for hours. The moon was shining brightly through the trees and leaves crunched underfoot. They had been staying away from roads and paths, and at this point, they were quite lost. A strange glint caught Charlotte's eye. She stooped to take a closer look. It was a button. How strange. It had a small engraving of a rabbit and appeared to be handcrafted.
"Hey Agatha, look what I found," She showed Agatha the button.
"Look over there. I think there's another." The girls approached and saw yet another glint ahead. Completely disregarding the potential danger of what appeared to be a deliberately placed trail, the girls followed the buttons until they reached a cottage. However, they did not notice until they quite literally bumped into the house because they were stooped over so far. Looking up, Charlotte gasped in surprise.
"Imagine if there were, like. Kids in the basement or something."
"Char, you can't say that. But man, that would be crazy."
Once again disregarding danger as well as rules on trespassing (though it was obvious by now that the girls did not care for the boundaries of the law as they had just murdered a man each), the girls stepped inside the cottage. It was cold outside and they needed a place to rest. Besides, the cottage seemed abandoned.
"Hey," a tiny voice came from below, "Let us out of here."
"MAN."
