___________________________________The time was around 8:00 in the morning and I was up early. I sat at the dining table with nothing but a glass of coffee in-front of me. Khalil was still sleep, Angel was at school, but me? My mind was somewhere it hadn't been in a while.
I guess you could say today was a special day. However it wasn't. Not to me anyway. It was October 5th, a day that I will never forget as long as I live. I stared blankly into space, reminiscing on the day that scarred me.
I didn't talk about what happened on that day. Not since I was 16 years old. I hadn't told anybody and I refused too. However, I knew having it bottled up inside me wasn't good. But I didn't care.

FLASHBACK
Jade cursed aloud but lowly as she walked home from the grocery store. She was given fifty dollars and was told to make it work to get some groceries for her mother. She had more then three bags in her hands and it was just her, alone. She walked an alley, taking the quickest way home because the bag of milk was slowing her down the more she walked.
She hated she was doing this alone. It was around 9 o'clock at night and at that time and living in New York, she was prey. She had her hoodie over her head, the weather a little chilly due to it being October.
As she walked home, she moved the bags in her hands from time to time. She jogged up the steps of the porch and sat the bags down. She grabbed her keys from her pocket and used it to open the door.
She walked inside and headed straight for the kitchen. On the way there, it was pretty dark. Before she left almost all the lights were on, now they were off.
