Chapter Nine.
[ Harry's POV. ]

"What am I doing with Harry?" - I asked her, doubtedly.

"Yes, that's what I asked." - She insisted. - "We saw you getting on the same plane together yesterday, there were pictures all over Twitter asking who you were. You were talking to him!" - She said, exasperatedly.

I bit my lip and hated what I was going to say.

"I'm his assistant."

"What?!"

"I work for him." - I said, rolling my eyes at Louis stupid face of victory.

That asshole was enjoying it.

"Since when? Why didn't you tell us? Are you in Russia? What the fuck, Louis?!"

"I'm… yeah, we're in Russia. He hired me a couple of days ago." - I said, knowing it sounded completely crazy for everyone who might hear it.

"I can't believe it! How? Why? Why you in between all the people?"

"I don't know…" - I trailed and gestured to Louis to tell me her name.

"Phoebe." - He mouthed.

"... Phoebe."

"Are you with him?" - She asked, cautiously.

"Yes." - I laughed. - "Why?"

"Dais! He is with him!" - We heard her shout. - "Can we speak with him?!"

I looked up at Louis with an eyebrow raised and a smirk on my face.

"They are fans." - I mouthed. - "And you didn't even know me. I'm offended." - I whispered to him and he rolled his eyes.

"Give me the freaking phone." - He said, annoyed.

"Yes, Phoebe, he agreed to speak to you." - I said and they immediately screamed.

Louis ran a hand on his - my - face and took the phone.

"Hello, girls. I'm Harry." - He said.

"Oh my God!" - One of them shouted.

"Is this real?!" - The other one also shouted.

"Yes, I'm here, you wanted to talk to me?" - Louis asked his sisters.

"Yes! We love you, Harry! We listen to your music everyday! We went to your show in London too." - They said and I smiled.

"That's great, thank you." - Louis said.

They continued talking to him as I enjoyed listening to the awful lies Louis was saying to his sisters.
Then, Nancy returned with the coke and the pancakes Louis had asked before, and hurried us so we could be at the stadium in an hour.

Louis had to hang up the phone and take his belongings, he was leaving my room to prepare himself.

But before he actually left the room, he turned around to look at me.

"Your life is pretty great." - He said and closed the door behind him.

📖✨

I didn't see Louis for the following three hours, because he headed to the stadium to make his sound check as I stayed behind, trying to find some clues on the book.

I wasn't giving up on that.

Besides, Louis was more than ready to do the sound check on his own. With Mitch's help of course.

When the time of the show came, I picked the earbud and the microphone that Mitch handed me and I stood up backstage, to be there for Louis through the show in case he needed my help.

And it was amazing to see how well he was handling this show.
It made me a bit proud, but at the same time, It made me miss being myself.

And even if I was more tranquil now that Louis wasn't messing with my career anymore, that he was actually doing a good job and that I probably won't get fired, now I was Jealous.

That was my place, those were my songs, my clothes, my fans.
And he was taking it all from me.
He was taking advantage of the situation, and he was enjoying it.

We needed to find a way to be ourselves again. And fast.

The show ended without much inconveniences, Mitch and Sarah were actually congratulating Louis for being more loose on stage, for enjoying more and to interact and make the fans laugh.

Maybe he is enjoying it a little too much.

When we returned to the hotel, I was still pretty angry about Louis' performance tonight.
He couldn't have done it that good, he couldn't have stolen that feeling from me.

So, before he could get to his room, I took Louis by his arm and pulled him to my room.

"What do you think you're doing?" - I asked, annoyed.

"What do you mean?"

"It seems like you actually want to be me now. Are you trying to steal my identity? To become me for good?"

"Harry, what?! What are you talking about?"

"You told me today that you liked my life, I'm thinking that maybe you want to keep it! You want to steal it from me!"

"Okay, you need to calm down, Harry. I'm not planning on stealing anything from you."

"Then why are you enjoying it so much? Huh?"

"It's fun, I guess. But I don't want it all the time, not even a little. Do you really think I want this life? Do you think I want to forget about my family? My house? My shop? No! I don't want that. I'm just trying to not suffer being under your skin for once! Because we don't have a fucking clue when is this going to end, so I at least want to not be scared of having to sing in front of thousands of people and to do it the best way I can because I don't want to ruin you! I don't want to ruin your career! Isn't that what you asked me for?"

"Yes." - I swallowed.

"Then what are you talking about?!" - He yelled.

"I… I don't know, I thought you were…"

"Harry…" - He said, more calm now. - "I don't want your life. I'm really happy with mine and I want us to find a solution so we can both get back to doing the things we love doing. I know you must be out of your mind with not being able to perform, with training me and all, I… I try to understand you. I'm trying really hard here. You're not easy to copy." - He laughed. - "But I'm not the one you should be mad at. I can stop performing if you want it. Just tell me what works best for you."

"No, it's okay… you're doing it great. I'm just…" - I trailed, running a hand through my hair.

"What?" - He asked softly.

"I guess I'm just getting jealous. I really want my life back." - I whispered, noticing I was showing him some weakness that wasn't common in me.

Louis walked to me and pulled me on a friendly hug.

"We have to work as a team." - He said.

"Don't hug me, this is awkward." - I mumbled into his - my - shoulder.

He laughed and let go of me.

"We can stay tonight rereading the book. What do you say?"

"Yeah, fine."
