I let my long brunette hair out of the loose braid with a small tug and it flew around everywhere. I sat down in the soft sand and Leo walked over to me, and sat down. I think I've always had a thing for Leo, since I was small I would notice him more than the other boys. I guess I never did anything about it, but as I said he has always been a brother to me.

"So Kells, do you have a boyfriend?"

Ah, I knew this question would pop up eventually.

"Actually I don't, he cheated on me." I sighed turning to look at him, we were so close I could basically feel his breath. It surprised me when I took in Leo's facial expression. He was stunned.

"Wh- What, Who would cheat on you?

"Well I guess he would" I laughed

"I would never cheat on you"

"Yeah because we aren't together"

He looked away staring off to the sea, I teasingly pushed his shoulder and he scooted closer to me. I looked at him. The moonlight outlining his perfect facial features, glowy clear skin, straight nose, extremely sharp jawline, and of course, his wavy brown hair. He turned to look at me and our faces were inches away from each other, no, centimeters away from each other. If I just leaned a little we would be kissing. I looked down at his full lips and back again to his eyes. The way he was looking at me made me feel like the most beautiful girl in the world. Suddenly, I remembered I was still in my pajamas, bed hair, and no makeup. I suddenly felt extremely self-conscious. I stood up and walked to the shoreline, the hot summer air was making me hot, I stepped closer to the crystal clear water and the temperature was so enjoyable, not too hot nor cold.

"I wish I could swim right now" I called out

I could hear Leo standing up and making his towards me.

"Then let's swim" He whispered to my ear

I shivered

"I think it's time for me to go home. My parents could wake up any moment now."

Leo nodded, as we started making our way back home.

"Hey, I never asked you. Do you have a girlfriend?"

"Nope, no girl in this town has really convinced me, they are all just, so shallow, too easy."

I laughed

"Oh, I'm sorry Mr. Handsome. Should I be honored to be accompanied by the most popular guy in the village?" I asked sarcastically

He rolled his eyes and smiled. I could've just melted right then and there. He was absolutely beautiful, but of course, I would never admit to that.

"How's school been?" I asked

"Oh you know, the same. The teachers are shit, the curriculum is trash and pretty much everyone passes the grade, I can't wait to get out of this town."

"Leo that sounds horrible, I know how much you like learning. Have you ever thought of studying abroad?"

As soon as I asked I felt Leo stiffen next to me like it was a touchy subject.

"Yeah well, I've actually applied for a program. I should be hearing back soon."

"Wow! That's amazing Leo!" I beamed

"Yeah, we'll let's see what happens."

He sounded out of tune like he wasn't so sure of himself.

"Where are you planning to go?"

"I don't really know yet, somewhere in the states, hopefully, California."

"That would be so cool, and I could come to visit you!"

Leo smiled unsurely, and before I knew it we were home. I hugged him goodbye and I walked to my house and went up the stairs. I peaked into my parent's room and just as I did my mother opened her eyes.

"Is everything alright Kelly?" She asked concerned, propping herself up in her elbows

"Yeah, yeah, I just went downstairs for a sip of water," I whispered, surprised at how easy it was to lie to my mother.

"Okay, well goodnight."

I smiled at her and kept walking to my room. When I got there I looked towards the balcony and across I could see Leo had closed his doors and pulled his curtains. Weird. He definitely sounded different when I asked him about studying abroad. It breaks my heart, since we were little Leo has always loved to read and do math equations and his school has never been enough for him since his family couldn't afford a better one. I wonder why he sounded so skeptical about studying abroad.
