i popped on my black ugg slides & headed downstairs to leave out.

"where you goin this early?" my mom asked smokin a cigarette.

"to pick up my package" i said grabbing my keys off the coffee table she had her bare feet on.

need a damn pedicure.

"who sent you something?" she asked.

"why is that your business?" i asked titling my head.

my dad sent me a congrats card & gifts. he doesn't stay with us anymore, after him & my mother divorced.

he moved back to atl where he's from & asked if me & my sister wanted to come stay with his side but we know we can't easily leave the place we love full of ppl we'll miss.

now we just visit him every now & then. & everytime we bring him up, she throws a fit. so we always say we're visiting our grandma on our dads side.

meanwhile my mother runs thru men like clothes, & chooses them over us all the time.

she recently took the side of a man she just met over my sisters, when she said he stole her $100 she made off of selling her old toys.

who tf steals a 10 year olds money? right.

"be mad abt the situation all you want, but i'm still your mother rmb that, & you still needa watch your tone w/ me" she said pointing her cigarette at me.

"i'll do that when you stop choosing men over your kids" i thought to myself.

i rolled my eyes & zipped up my sweater.

"cam!" my little sister ran up, hugging me.

"hey tink, i be back 'kay?" i told her.

"kk, where you goin?" she asked.

"abt my biz" i said walking out the door, locking it behind me.

i walked across the grass to our driveway & hopped in my white nissan 2020.

i started up the car & played "the need to know" by wale & sza.

i drove till i got to the post office.

11 Minutes Later...

i walked in, embracing cool air conditioning.

it was only 3 people in front of me so i waited till it was my turn to pick my stuff up.

"stop calling my phone desire! you was a damn hit & run!" a boy semi-yelled.

looked around my age.
