"No, Sunghoon. I'm not.." Hana scowled as her head throbbed in pain. "Come here," she held the boy's wrist and pulled him out of the room and didn't stop till they reached the lawn downstairs.
"I like Jake, Sunghoon. I like him so please stop this. We're friends. You, me, Sohee... And I want nothing to come between us. You understand?" She asserted.
"When did you learn to lie Han? Nothing to come in our friendship..." He let out a laugh. "Isn't that why you're dating Jake? To get over me?" He said making Hana stone cold as she feared he had found out. But how could he? No... She just needs to keep pretending. Everything will work out if she keeps pretending...
"I know Sohee likes me, well... Liked at least. So you decided to not accept our feelings for each other so we three don't break apart isn't it?" He asked. His eyes were dull, he ached while his voice was a mixture of rage and sorrow as he held her wrists tightly.
Hana stared at him for a moment and then smiled while looking away.
"What novel are you writing Hoon? I don't want these temporary crushes coming between our lifelong friendships okay? And, like you? I don't Sunghoon! I don't like you," She spoke in a voice rising and falling continuously as she pulled her hand out of his grip.
Sunghoon's heart ached as he felt her distant, empty stare which was always filled with love and happiness upon seeing him.
"Fine, you don't like me I get it... But what about Jake? Look me in the eyes and tell me you like that guy." He gripped her arms in his hands so tightly that she winced in pain.
Hana looked at Sunghoon and her pupils expanded as she smiled, "I'll stop liking you Hoon, one day I will." "I like him, Sunghoon. I like Jake."
Sunghoon's arms fell to his sides as he saw the beautiful smile as she confessed her feelings for Jake.
The world seemed to slow down as Sunghoon felt a piercing pain in his chest. He loved her... He had loved her ever since he could remember.
"Let's go," Hana sighed and made her way to the stair but was pulled and pinned to the wall. She could see nothing other than Sunghoon's face as he was just inches away.
"Lies! Lies Jee Hana!!" He suppressed his urge to shout as he felt everything falling apart. How could he let her go? 9 years... He had spent 9 years of his life loving her. How could he just let the lies make a fool out of his love?
"Han, I love you," he said and before she could say anything her words were muffled in a kiss.
Hana felt his lips pushing her back, it wasn't like the soft one before... It was filled with anger. A tear trickled from the side of Hana's eye as she pushed the boy away.
"Han-" but the sentence was cut short by a slap on his face.
"Park Sunghoon! Even if I ever liked you I regret it!! I hate you!!" She said and ran up the stairs while wiping her tears off with her sleeves.
Sunghoon saw her leaving, "Now you'll really get over me won't you... I hope you're happy Han." He knew she was lying, he knew their friendship was more important than his love. But it still hurt. His heart ached as he stepped out of the door.
He knew he was leaving for a long time this time. For how long? He didn't know. His return? He didn't know...
Hana closed the door behind her as she entered the house. She could tell Sohee had been trying to stop Jake from coming after her and Sunghoon. She smiled at the three of them who were waiting for an explanation as she walked away to her toilet.
