george: thomas?

george: you there?

thomas: yes, sorry I'm with friends

george: oh who?

thomas: you wouldn't know them

george: oh right

thomas: maybe this is a bad idea

george: what do you mean?

thomas: there's a reason you're not in my life anymore...

george: I know but I've had plenty of time to change?

thomas: I know but... i don't know...

The room is eerily quiet. It's just Dylan and Thomas, sitting on their phones on the same bed but with an uncomfortable space between them. Thomas hates it.

"Hey..."

Dylan looks up immediately, almost too quickly. "Yeah?"

"I need your advice," Thomas begins timidly. He clears his throat. "Promise you won't judge me though."

Dylan sits himself up properly, pivoting his body so he is sitting cross-legged and facing him. "No judgment here, what's up?"

"I had this friend..." Thomas begins, "Well, he was my best friend but he sorta portrayed my trust and now wants to see me again..."

"George?"

Thomas nods. "Yeah."

"So what do you want advice on?" Dylan asks, confused on what Thomas wants him to say.

"Oh. Right, ha. Well, should I let him back in my life? He left for a reason and I just don't know if I should forgive him," Thomas explains. "Like, it was really bad at the time."

"May I ask-"

Thomas interrupts. "Well, he kinda just told everyone my secret but left himself out of it. Like, it was kinda our secret... But he only included the part where I'm in it. Not him, if that makes sense?"

Dylan takes a moment to think. He doesn't feel like he has enough context to make a judgment but doesn't want to pry. "So, he hurt you?"

"Well, yeah, a lot-"

"Do you feel like you can move past what he did or whatever happened when you come face to face with him?" Dylan asks.

Thomas is silent. He slowly but unsurely shakes his head no.

"I'm so confused," Thomas sighs, falling into Dylan's lap. Dylan goes stiff at first, it felt as if his heart fell right down to his stomach and now there's a stirring in his belly. He feels something wet on his lap and instantly reaches for Thomas' hair. His fingers twirl in his blonde strands and he smiles a little.

"You okay?" Dylan asks quietly, barely a whisper.

"Yeah," Thomas sniffles. Dylan chuckles, rubbing a soothing hand on Thomas' back.

"Clearly," Dylan says, a small smile still on his face. Thomas is just there, his head in his lap, his hair in his hands. If only it could be like this more often. "I got you, Tommy."

Thomas turns over, his head still in Dylan's crossed lap and he stares up at him, his hair disheveled and his eyes glossy. "I know."

A little smile appears. And a whole lot of butterflies come along with it.
