It's been 17 years, and I haven't aged really, as if time has slowed and a year is just a month for me. I believe it to be the bond between Draco and me, or maybe I am just stupid and crazy. My hair has grown to my hips which means the white color I died it is now only at the ends. My natural brown hair has taken over. My pale skin tanner and a few freckles have graced my skin as well.
Draco has grown though, he went from a squirrel to a Great Dane in 17 years. Which means I will probably have to wait centuries before he is a full-blown dragon. I wonder how long they live.
After a few months of traveling around, we found a nice abandoned cabin and settled there, no towns or civilizations for miles.
It was in a spot with half woods and half fields, a big pond sat in the field filled with fish we often eat for dinner. Draco is in charge of hunting the food and I handle the skinning or descaling then he cooks it. His fire breathing has gotten very helpful.
Over the years, and a few trips to civilization, I have made the small cabin into a nice little home, a vacation home, away from all forms of modern technology. A barrel of rainwater for drinking and cooking, a dragon or camp fire as a stove, the woods as our bathroom, and the cabin floor as our home. I took up archery since all I can make out here with my one knife is a bow and caveman day arrows.
Draco is usually there to protect me when I go to gather supplies in the forest but I like to keep the bow handy just in case. I have used it a couple of times after I told Draco back off from a hunt so I could try and get it.
Over the years Draco has somehow formed a way of communication through our thoughts. Maybe it came with age so he couldn't when he was young but now we can simply talk with our minds.
You know what I love about solitude, there is no one around to bother you. But sometimes having a dragon brings the wrong people.
Not wrong people but the people you wish could just back off.
Draco was flying above me as I laid down in the grass. He was soaring and having his freedom when surprisingly a red metal suit shot a high-tech net to Draco crashing him to the ground.
"Draco!" I stood up and ran to him. The metal suit landed right beside him. "Tony!!"
The man spun around to look at where the sound came from. "Who are you?" He aimed his thrusters at me.
I put my hands up. "It's me. The girl from the compound 17 years ago. Loki's... person."
"Ava?" He powered down his thrusters. "How the hell are you the same, and alive. Loki thought you died, he had a freak out when he couldn't find you."
My brows furrowed. "What? Why would he look for... Wait how are you free? Are you with Loki?"
I watched as Draco struggled in the net. I moved over and Tony pushed me away. "It's dangerous. Loki has been searching for it for years."
"Well his name is Draco and he's my dragon." I pushed Tony away and helped Draco out of the net. "Are you ok?" Draco nodded and stood up. "He's harmless." I stood and turned back to Tony. "I have lived here for 17 years in solitude. Mind telling what I've missed and why you seem to be with Loki?"
"Well, a year after you disappeared Loki let us out one by one to see he wasn't a threat and only wanted Earth to prosper. He promised not to wage war against any other nations and sent the chitari back. It did a full reversal and actually got all of the Avengers approvals and is now the benevolent King he promised to be."
"Why did he do that?"
Tony shrugged. "Honestly I think it was you." I raised a brow. "As soon as we were all freed and brought back together he asked us to find you. He said he made a mistake and should have never let you go."
"Why... Does he want me dead now? Or back to warm his bed." I crossed my arms.
"No!" Tony held up his hands. "God no. He had a total lovers meltdown when we said we couldn't find you anywhere and were probably dead." Tony quickly explained.
"He doesn't love me." I scoffed. "Why would love me?"
Tony shrugged. "Well he went 'all of it was his fault' and shut himself in his room for weeks."
Tony's lying. Or maybe this is Loki in an illusion trying to mess with me. "How are you even here? Old age doesn't keep you down, you should be what.. 60 something right now."
Tony opened his suit and stepped out looking just as I left him. My eyes widened and trailed over his body. "Loki was nice enough to give me an apple of immortality, I can still die but only from unnatural causes." My eyes widened. "The transformation of whatever was a pain but worth it. He actually gave one to the whole team. I had to do some convincing but they ended up agreeing. Wanda was easy because of the whole vision thing which I am still trying to figure out." Tony scratched his neck.
"So... you all are immortal Avengers now?" Tony nodded. "Ok."
"Yea. So are you going to come back? Loki kind of wants the dragon."
"He's not getting Draco!" I growled and Draco hissed.
Tony put up his hands. "He won't take him, I think. He just wants to make sure he is safe. Dragons are dangerous creatures and he needs to make sure whoever the owner is can be trusted."
"Tell him it's me then."
"I don't think that will work since the last time he saw you..."
"What, he rapped me?" I crossed my arms. "He brutally fucked me with his Jotun side."
Tony looked away. "He feels terrible about it. Maybe if you just come back with me you two can sort this out."
"Sort what out? The dragon or the last time we met?"
"Both." Tony smiled then sighed when he realized this was no time for Stark sassy behavior. "Look, he isn't the same fake personality guy he uses to be. He was broken when you left, he changed. And when you disappeared it was like a part of him shut down. He has told us about his Jötunn side. How the winter days bring out his brutal heritage and he can't control it."
But he raped me and continued to be an ass. Loki definitely doesn't love me, he can't love me. No one can love me, it took years to love myself as I still fail at that most of the time. He broke me, chewed me up, and spit me out then continued to crush my bones.
But I miss him a little, he was the first to actually treat me with a little bit of decency. Even if he was an ass he showed me his caring side, he cared for me. But in the end, he brought his facade back and pushed me away.
"Fine, but you or anyone else tough a scale on Dracos head and I won't hesitate to let him loose."
