Seungmin sighed as he looked down at the seemingly endless list of errands he needed to run for his friends. Silently cursing the fact that he was the only trustworthy person in the household, he ran over the list for what felt like the thousandth time.
It was a bright, sunny day. One that could make anyone want to go outside and enjoy it no matter how much they enjoyed staying in their room with the curtains closed. Back at home, everyone else was messing around outside except for him. They even managed to drag Changbin out somehow.
Due to the pleasant weather, almost everyone in the neighborhood had the collective thought to have a yard sale, effectively clogging the sidewalks and roads and making his job more difficult. However, it was quite funny to hear people yelling at each other from across the street to stop stealing their customers.
Seungmin always thought that yard sales were a waste of time and money. All it was good for was buying other people's crappy, old stuff for a cheap price. However, a box at the yard sale he was passing caught his eye.
Inside were eight medium-sized plushies, all resembling animals but in a somewhat human figure. The animals reminded him fondly of his friends. It was an impulse buy that wasn't on his list, but he felt like he would regret it if he didn't buy them. Plus, they were insanely cheap for the near-perfect condition they were in. The fox plushie was slightly dirty but he was sure a wash or two could restore it.
"Are you interested in buying these?" A middle aged woman with a pleasant smile asked. "I found them when I was cleaning out my attic. A shame my children never showed any interest in them. They're so cute too."
Seungmin took the money out of his wallet and handed it to the lady. For some reason, she seemed overjoyed that someone had bought them. Maybe they had been on sale for a while and she was glad they finally went, or she was happy to see that someone had use for something her children didn't.
He returned home after almost an entire day of running errands, his friends still gathered in the backyard. He placed the box of plushies on the picnic table before promptly collapsing into a seat.
"What did you get?" Jeongin asked curiously, peering into the box.
Seungmin gently pushed him away, lining up the plushies on the table for everyone to see. He kept the puppy plushie on the table long enough for everyone to see it before snatching it away and claiming it as his own.
"What's up with this one?" Jisung laughed, pointing at a pink plushie that looked like a strange cross between a pig and a rabbit. To him, it resembled more of a pig than a rabbit. "Changbin, it looks exactly like you!"
"And what's wrong with that?" Changbin shot back. Seungmin could practically hear the steam coming out of his ears. "It's cute and charming. Ninety-nine percent rabbit and one percent pig."
"You keep telling yourself that," Jisung laughed, tears running down his face from laughing so hard.
Hyunjin claimed the weasel plushie, his face lighting up with excitement. "This ones perfect! Look, it has a mole under its eye just like I do!"
Felix and Chan came up and claimed a chick and wolf plushie. Felix had twigs and leaves sticking out of his blond hair. It was most likely the aftermath of his slaving away at a stick fort that Jisung wanted to be built in the forest out back of their house.
Minho looked at a bunny plushie, judging it intensely before commenting. "What am I? A child?"
"If you don't want it, I'll take it then," Changbin offered.
"No thanks. This is mine, I earned it."
Jeongin stared at the fox plushie which was the last one remaining on the table, his expression slightly downcast.
"It's dirty and it's leg is ripped," He complained, jealous that all the other plushies looked fine except for his.
"Don't worry," Chan soothed. "I'll fix it for you later."
A few hours had passed and nighttime had fallen. It made Seungmin happy to see that the others were enjoying the plushies he had bought for them. Yawning, he decided that it was time for him to turn in for the night. It was a bit earlier than usual for him to be going to bed, but he had a long day.
As he walked by, he noticed the light in Chan's office was on, flooding into the dark hallway. Seungmin peeked his head in, careful not to disturb him. Inside, Chan had a Youtube video pulled up on his computer, attempting to sew the fox plushies leg back in place with intense concentration.
He left, continuing back to his room, finding it funny the lengths that Chan would go through for the youngest. Within minutes, he was in bed waiting for sleep to wash over him, plushie laying next to his pillow.
"Seungmin, wake up."
