Changbin stared at Seungmin in shock, looking as if he was trying to remember what had happened before his vision blacked out. It was all so bizarre. First Jeongin, and then Changbin. However, there were differences.
With Jeongin, he had been scared, but never attempted to hurt anyone. He only started acting strange afterward. In Changbin's case, the fear had caused him to blackout and he awoke in a room that looked like a tornado had gone through it but acted fine afterwards. According to Changbin, he had seen something similar to what Jeongin had but the vision had taken the form of Hyunjin instead.
Seungmin grabbed PuppyM and shoved him into a tiny backpack before leaving the house and attempting to retrace his steps to the lady's house. She had to know at least a little bit about the situation they were in. It made him beyond furious to know that all of this only happened after bringing the plushies home and none of his friends would believe him.
A bright yellow house with healthy, colorful flowers surrounding the perimeter looked different without all the tables and people crowding the front lawn., but he knew this was the place. He walked up the front path and rang the door, tapping his foot impatiently on the welcome mat.
He saw the lady peek through the window by the door before slowly opening it. She peeked her head out, wrinkles creasing her forehead.
"What brings you here?" She asked accusingly. "Oh, where are my manners? Please come inside."
Hesitantly, Seungmin stepped inside. The walls were painted a light salmon color, plants of almost every kind sitting on shelves by the windows. He was pleased to see that she had no cats.
"Please have a seat," The lady said, motioning to a white couch. "I'll be back in a moment. It's been a while since I've had visitors."
Seungmin sat on the couch, fishing PuppyM out of his backpack as he waited. The plushie seemed to sigh before going quiet. The lady rushed back from the kitchen, placing a cup of coffee on the coffee table in front of him. Her eyes lingered on PuppyM and she backed away.
"I hope you know that I don't do refunds," She stated, fear in her voice.
"I'm not here for a refund," He said calmly, correct about his suspicion that she knew something. "I just want to know what you know about these plushies and why you decided to sell them."
The lady sighed, rubbing her temples. She had gotten rid of the plushies and assumed she would never have to see them again. Their curse lingered and brought them back to her in the end.
"Well...I have two children. When they were younger, I found these at a children's store and thought they were too cute not to buy. Much like you, I assume. Each child got four, and they absolutely loved them."
"One day, my eldest got tired of clinging to their plushies like their life depended on it, and left them abandoned in a box by their bed. That's when the trouble began. They began having horrible nightmares and walking around the house in a daze. They reported hearing the plushies talk to them, so I sent them to a therapist to see what was going on."
"The therapist told me they were insistent that the plushies were talking to them and telling them to do bad things. My youngest on the other hand, never had this problem. As an experiment, we had the children swap plushies. My eldest slept peacefully for once. My youngest didn't see anything, but heard things. After that, the plushies stayed in the attic until I worked up the courage to sell them."
"And why would you sell them if you knew something was off about them?" Seungmin asked, trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together.
"My children said they could feel their bad energy from the attic until one day it stopped. I assumed they had gone dormant and it was okay to give them away."
"Well, now they're terrorizing my friends. Which one caused the most trouble and how can I stop them?"
"My child always complained about the bunny if that helps. I don't know how to stop them, but your plushie there might be able to help."
Seungmin thanked the lady for her time before rushing out of the house to return home. From what she said, Changbin wouldn't be the last to suffer and he needed to intervene before it happened. The bunny...Leebit...Minho was going to be next.
"Do you want answers?" Puppy asked, the wind making it hard for Seungmin to hear him properly.
"Tell me everything."
"Once we get home I'll tell you everything you need to know."
Seungmin felt that he couldn't trust PuppyM, but at this point, he had no other choice but to. As he ran down the street back home, he felt a crushing feeling that he was already too late.
