"Meow.......Meow......."

"MEOW...."

"Huh?"

Y/n slowly sat up in bed, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. Her head already pounding from the previous night's lack of sleep... and now this?

"Meow"

Y/n scanned the room for the noisy intruder, until she caught sight of a ball of fur sat on the floor, at the end of the bed. Squinting, she tried to adjust her eyes to the darkness of the room.

"Max" she called out, patting the empty space beside her feet. Wondering if maybe he was looking for an invitation to join her on the bed. But to wake her at 3:36am on a work night? He was pushing his luck.

"Meowww..."

Y/n shifted in her bed to peer over at the feline, reaching her hand down to touch the cold, wooden floor beside him, she tried to grab his attention.

"Oi" She whispered, tapping the floor with her finger tips. But still, Max refused to pay any attention, let alone a single glance in her direction.

She huffed in annoyance as she lay down, pulling the covers up to her chin.

"Suit yourself" She whispered.

See, if this was a one-off thing, Y/n wouldn't have minded... but the fact was, was that this had become a regular occurrence for her and the feline. Like clockwork, Max would find a way into her room at the dead of night, whether it be through the door or an open window, and would park himself in front of her mirror just to meow constantly at the open air.

This of course freaked out Y/n a lot. She would often wonder if she had unwanted visitors in her room, maybe he could see something she couldn't? But after a big debate with herself, she decided not to pursue that route of irrational overthinking.

'Silence. Sweet, sweet silence' Y/n thought, as she snuggled under the covers.

"MEOW.."

"OH MY GOD"

Y/n threw off the covers in a fit. Jumping out of bed to turn on the bedroom light and confront the hair ball one last time.

"WHAT." She grumbled. Her patience was no more as she stared down at Max, her gaze menacing.

But Max was unfazed. Staring up at her with his big, round eyes, his tail swishing back and forth across the floor. He did nothing but blink at her... well, almost nothing.

"Meow" Came his reply, before turning back to stare at his reflection in the mirror.

"Wait, what-"

Y/n shifted her gaze to the mirror. Slowly walking in front of it to inspect hers and Max's reflection.

"Was this what you were meowing at?" She asked pointing at the mirror, looking down at the feline. He only looked up at her before meowling again.

Y/n looked back at the mirror puzzled.

Breathing a sigh, she bent down and picked up the feline. Turning to the light switch, she reached up to turn it off before grudgingly walking back to bed, plopping the cat down at the foot of the mattress and slipping under the covers.

She really didn't need this tonight, but it seemed that Max had other plans.

Quickly giving himself a scratch behind the ear, Max plodded to the edge of the bed, his tail swishing back and forth as he once again stared at the mirror.

Y/n ignored him. She was far too tired to appease the cat and quite frankly, she was very fed up. If there was one thing she hated most in the world, it was interrupted sleep.

"........."

"......MEOW"

"THAT'S IT"

Y/n flung the covers off the bed. Grabbing the cat, she swung open her bedroom door and placed him outside in the hallway. Storming back to her bedroom, she shut the door, huffing with frustration.

But before she could get back into bed, Max began scratching at the bottom of the door, meowling over and over again, desperate to get back into her room.

"No no no no noooo" she grumbled. Swinging open her door, she readied herself to scold the cat, but instead, she was met with nothing. No cat was in sight.

Y/n was dumbfounded... where had he gone?

Shutting her door again, she turned back around only to find Max, once again at the mirror. If she wasn't confused then, she was now.

"How did you..."

Slowly approaching the cat, she bent down to pick him up until he suddenly bolted toward the mirror, leaping up towards it. Y/n lunged forward to grab him before he collided with the mirror. But instead, what she witnessed had her stop in her tracks.

Max didn't collide with the mirror at all, instead, he went straight through it. The glass rippled as he disappeared. Almost as if he had just dived into a pool of water.

Y/n stood there in front of the mirror, mouth agape with her eyes glued to the 'mirror'... to say she was shocked, was a major understatement.

"What the fuck"
