Chapter 3. Fire And Flames

THE pups started getting into their vehicles one by one. But while the Paw Patrol were heading to the rescue, Mayor Humdinger and his cats were also heading to the rescue. Heroic Paws which was lead by Mayor Humdinger had already arrived before Paw Patrol. And that was because they didn't have to suit up or get into any vehicles. Mayor Humdinger was crazy and out of his mind. He thought he and cats made a rescue team but in fact they didn't.

The mayor just had his cats on the look out for any trouble in the city.

And when there was trouble, his cats would warn him.

Then they would head to the trouble sight and Mayor Humdinger would call the police or firefighters. And that was exactly what Mayor Humdinger was doing right now.

He and his cats had arrived on the fire scene, and all Mayor Humdinger had done was call the fire department. Then the Paw Patrol arrived on the scene.

"Woah, the fire is spreading fast" Zuma said when he saw the how big the fire was getting. Mayor Humdinger hadn't seen them yet. "Liberty, Zuma and Rubble, I need you guys to keep the crowds at bay" Ryder ordered.

"Rubble on the double!" Rubble said and took off in his vehicle. All three pups took off and started yelling at the crowds to back up.

"Chase and Rocky, I need you guys to get those who are stuck in the building safely out. I'll be coming soon" Ryder commanded. "Chase is on the case" Chase said and jumped out of his police car followed by Rocky.

"Marshall, I need you to water down the fire. Keep watering it down till it's gone" Ryder said. "I'm fired up!" Marshall barked.

"Skye, the fire is reaching way too high and I don't think Marshall's fire truck will be able to reach, so I need you to throw water on the top.

Fill up a big bucket with water and keep flying to the top of the building" Ryder gave his last order. "Let's take to the sky" Skye barked and took off.

Ryder headed for the building to catch up with Chase and Rocky. "Keep away! Give the Paw Patrol space!" Liberty yelled at the panicking crowds as she drove on her motorcycle. Skye let a rope from her helicopter. At the end of the rope, there was a hook so that she could carry the bucket of water.

She flew toward the building and threw the water over the fire.

"Skye, what are doing throwing a little bit of water on such a big fire?" Marshall asked when he saw her pink helicopter.

"A little bit adds up!" Skye yelled from the air. Marshall winked at her trying say she was doing a good job.

Just before Ryder could head into the burning skyscraper, he was stopped. "Hey little boy" Mayor Humdinger said in a hostile voice. "I'm going rescue the people who are stuck in the building" Ryder said, a frown making it's way to his face. "That's not what you do in a fire like this. Your not going no where" Mayor Humdinger said. Butch took out his phone and ringed the police. "I have to go!" Ryder raised his voice.

"You and your pups are gonna be destroyed like I said. What I say is to be done" Mayor Humdinger said. "You think your gonna succeed! The Paw Patrol will never be defeated or destroyed" Ryder argued.

In the tall burning skyscraper, Chase and Rocky were getting the people out. "Hurry everyone!" Chase barked. "Get out! Get out!" Rocky yelled.

Everyone was running downstairs before the fire blocked the stairway. The elevator wasn't able to be used because of the fire. The people were running and screaming. Everyone left all of their belongings behind to be destroyed in the fire. There was no time to get anything, there was only time to flee from the flames. Chase and Rocky worked together, pushing and yelling at the crowds to keep moving.

Mayor Humdinger and Ryder were arguing outside of the building. "I gotta go! The fire is spreading and your not allowing anyone to take it out! Are you insane?" Ryder yelled. "Of course I'm letting people take the fire out. The firefighters will be arriving very soon" Mayor Humdinger said.

"Why are they so late?" Ryder asked. Marshall was trying his hardest to fight the fire, but the skyscraper was too tall and too big. Skye wasn't able to hold off the fire from the top, and it was starting to spread to other buildings.

The sky was black and grey, lighting striking the city and Mayor Humdinger was delaying everyone. He was only making the situation worse.

Just then the police cars arrived to arrest Ryder.

"Thank goodness you guys are here. I thought you would be late" Mayor Humdinger said. The police men got out of their cars. One big man was holding hand cuffs and walking up to Ryder. Skye soon saw what was happening when she was flying in her helicopter with a bucket of water.

She lowered down and threw the water on the police men and Mayor Humdinger. "Who did that?!" the grumpy mayor yelled.

"Good job Skye!" Ryder yelled.

The police man hand cuffed Ryder's hands and forced him to the car. Skye then reported the scene to Liberty. "Liberty, Ryder is being arrested. I need you, Zuma, and Rubble to pursue the police" Skye said.

"Copy that" Liberty said. "Zuma and Rubble. It's urgent!" Liberty called them. Both pups met Liberty at the side of the road. "Ryder is being arrested and we need to pursue the police" Liberty said.

"Being arrested? Oh my!" Zuma said worriedly. "Chase, Ryder is being arrested by police" Skye warned. "Copy that. Rocky and I are coming" Chase said. Chase, Rocky and the crowd had finally reached the last floor of the towering skyscraper. "Ryder! I'm coming!" Chase barked, running through the panicking crowd. Chase jumped in his police car and joined the pursuit with Liberty, Zuma, and Rubble. Marshall and Skye didn't know what to do with the fire. It was too big to be taken out. "Marshall, you can't loose hope" Rocky said. "Remember what Ryder always says, no jobs too big, no pups too small" Rocky encouraged Marshall.

Marshall felt a renewed confidence and started fighting the fire like there was no tomorrow. Skye moved quicker, putting out the fire from the top.

Mayor Humdinger and his cats were very confused. He was screaming and going crazy out of anger. "The Paw Patrol always humiliate everything for me!" he yelled. His cats hissed and growled in anger.

"Butch, Ruben! Do something! Don't just stand there!" Mayor Humdinger yelled. "What should we do?" Butch asked. "Stop the Paw Patrol right now!" the mayor roared. Suddenly a loud crack was heard.

The ground beneath the skyscraper started cracking. The people were screaming and running. The top of the skyscraper started crumbling, sending boulders and debris falling to the ground.

Marshall and Rocky drove their vehicles out of the way. The whole skyscraper started falling, hitting another building and crushing it.

Chase, Liberty, Zuma and Rubble were pursuing the police cars who had arrested Ryder. But then a bright and strong thunder hit in the middle of the pursue, making the pursuers and the ones being pursued, separated.

The pursuers pulled their breaks. They didn't see the police anywhere. A rain drop suddenly hit Chase's snout. He looked to the sky and so did the other pups.

"Ryder" Chase whispered, flattening his ears in sadness. "We'll find him" Liberty said in a warm voice. "Right now, we better reunite with Marshall, Rocky and Skye" Zuma said. "And then head to the headquarters" Rubble finished. Chase nodded his head and started the engine to his car.

Chase, Skye, Rocky, Marshall, Zuma, Rubble, and Liberty were all reunited and back in the headquarters. The rain had killed the remaining flames and saved the rest of the city from the fire. Mayor Humdinger and his cats were back in the office and the mayor was having a heart attack because of how angry he was. The Paw Patrol pups were happy to be together, safe and sound, but they missed Ryder very much.

The night was rainy and cold, thunder striking the city. Rubble shivered with fear at the hearing of the loud thunders. Chase knew he had to lead the Paw Patrol on Ryder's rescue even though he was kind of nervous. But he had to do it for Ryder and he was gonna do it.
