I groan silently and blink my eyes open. The sky is a bit grey today. I feel a little groggy and tilt my head to the right side. That is the moment I realize there's another person. After getting only a tad bit scared but then checking and seeing it's only Newt, I decide to leave him asleep and can't help but admire him.

He has this honey blonde, messy hair that is currently moving because of these tiny waves of wind. His eyes are peacefully closed so I'm sadly not able to see these beautiful brown gems. I always have to remind myself not to look in them for too long because I could get lost in them for infinity. A tiny smile curves his lips whilst sleeping. Those beautiful pink lips. He truly looks like an angel...

Too busy with admiring his presence, I notice only in the last few seconds that he's about to wake up. "Good morning." Is what I whisper into his ear.

His eyes open slowly. Same pace for the movement of his head. His lips open a small bit and he says with a rough morning voice "Mornin'!" Afterwards, he closes his eyes again and a drowsy smile creeps on his face.

That's how he stays for a few seconds before he opens his eyes again and becomes Mr. Hyperactive. I look perplexed at the not-sleepy-at-all-Newt while he checks if everything remained in the bag and his pockets. After making sure we still have the water bottles and knives, he climbs down the ladder. "Ready to go?" is all he asks from beneath and I hurry down the ladder as well.

We fight another time through the bushes until we stand yet again on grass. "Let's go, I guess." I sigh and we start walking forwards.

***

I don't know what it is, either the sultry air, the dark clouds in the sky or just the fact that we can't see anything besides grass around us and seemingly don't come closer to anything. But whatever it is, it lays something heavy around us for the whole walk.

So when it starts to rain in the afternoon, I stop walking and look up to the sky. "What's wrong?" Newt asks. I still look up, a few memories are rushing through my mind.

"What's wrong?" I ask bewildered and my head turns to him. "What's wrong?!" I ask again, now angry. "You wanna know what's wrong?! Look around, everything is shit that is what's wrong! At first we're in this stupid maze, then the shucking desert and don't even get me started on Denver. Oh yeah, whilst that of course a lot of our friends die and we go through a lot of dangerous stuff. Why not? And after that, they remember  'Well, surprise! It wasn't real, bitches!' And NOW we are on this apparently infinite grass-hill-whatever without any plan and the universe just figured 'Let's give 'em some rain and probably a bit of lighting to that to make 'em happy' Well guess what, I'M NOT HAPPY!"

"Tommy..." Newt starts but I shake my head and interrupt him.

"I'm sorry, that I screamed at you even though you're not anyhow responsible for all of this. It's just all too much a-and I don't know what to feel." I sniffle. "How are you doing that? How are you accepting that?"

"It's normal to feel like that. It's normal to feel shitty. I feel shitty too. I'm just not good at showing my feelings and that's definitely not better."

"At least you don't scream around like a madman." I grumble.

Newt shrugs and hints a smile. "There's no one here anyways and even if there were, it doesn't matter. You're Thomas, named after Thomas Edison, the chosen one."

I roll my eyes. "A fake name from a fictitious reality, whatever!"

"Fictitious or not, doesn't matter. It happened for us, for me for sure and you, Tommy, have my complete respect because you only flip out just now." He smiles.

I laugh and turn around to the direction we're going to. "Come on, shank. We should probably go further, else we'll never arrive somewhere."

"Dance with me!" I hear a sound in my ears.

"What?"

"Forget it, cliché. We should probably shelter somewhere." He says embarrassed, and goes past me.

But I take his hand and pull him back, which makes him spin around and crash into me. "We're already soaking wet anyways." When he understands, a big smile spreads on his face.

Like that, we stand in the rain for a while. Lost in each others eyes. Well I am lost in his eyes, I don't know what he does but I like to think he's lost in mine. "Maybe feelings aren't so bad after all." I hear him whisper but before I can question what that means, his lips lay on mine.

I kiss back immediately and we slowly start to move our lips. I think it's his first kiss. I feel honored. However I somehow think it's not mine. The kiss feels meant to be tho. It feels right. It's soft and full of....love. Yeah, I think that's what love feels like.

When we finally separate from each other, my eyes stay closed to stow this very moment in my mind. I open them slowly, when a gentle hand lays itself on my cheek and look now into Newts eyes again.

"I love you."

I loved to write this chapter!!! Maybe you understand how much if I tell you that I just wrote one and a half hours and it felt like fifteen minutes.

I'm probably going to write again today. Let's see how far I'll come.
