I should have never told Emma anything. And when I mean anything, I mean ANYTHING! I shouldn't have even introduced myself to her, or I wouldn't be sitting in the middle of Starbucks with Thomas right across from me.

I sip from my pumpkin spice latte and try to make the silence more comfortable. But nothing can straighten out the wrinkles in this problem.

Thomas clears his throat. "Maybe I should go." He gets up to go but I find my hand clutching to his arm.

"Please, don't go." Thomas stares at me for a moment, then sits back down. I blush a bit, cowering by pushing a veil of my hair in my face.

"I've never really been on- on a date," I stutter sheepishly. Thomas's eyes light up in surprise, not sure how to respond so he stays quiet for a minute. Finally he plasters a smirk on his face and replies, "I thought I was the only one." For some reason we burst out laughing. I try to catch my breath, but it's so funny I cough a little. We finally gain our control. I look at what Thomas ordered. All he has on his plate is a cookie.

"Is that all you're eating? I recommend
the hot chocolate."

"Actually I don't want any-"

Before Thomas can finish his sentence I'm already in line with my money out. Once again his eyes light up with that spark I can't place. A few minutes later I come back to our table with a mug of hot chocolate in my hand. I slide it across the table and the mug tips over, spilling its contents onto Thomas's shirt. He screams from the hotness, and he gets up, grabbing a bunch of napkins in the process. I gasp and try to help him. I grab his arm but he quickly shakes it off.

"Thomas, I'm so SO sorry," I splutter. He just shakes his head and leaves Starbucks. I sigh. I shouldn't be so bummed out; this date wasn't going anywhere anytime fast. I sigh and sip at my latte, taking a nibble of Thomas's cookie while I'm at it. Great, just great.
