"Sanne!" My mother called up the stairs. I had just finished getting my outfit ready for the school dance. I didn't want to go, my best friend had just left town, so I was left to go with myself. I was going to have friends there, but we had the whole night planed out.
"Coming mum!" I yelled, with one last look in the mirror. I looked great, but going in by myself, must admit. I'm a bit worried.
"Sanne!" She cheered, once I was in her eye sight. "You look beautiful!" She put her hands together, and smiled, looking at my dress. It was just past my upper thigh, and it was a beautiful shade of purple. My hair was done in small curls. I liked the way that everything was working together.
"Who's bringing me in again?" I asked, looking in my small purse, making sure that I had my ticket, and money.
"I am, dear." My mum smiled, walking me out to the car.
"So is there any boys going to this dance you'd like to impress?" She pried, as I was texting my friend about the dance.
My head snapped up. "No." I mumbled, not wanting her to know about Harry.
"Alright. Whatever you say." She smirked at me.
"Mum!" I hissed. "There is no boy." I winded my eyes. Trying, and failing, to make it seem convincing.
"Well then who's this Harry boy?" She half smirked.
"How do you know about him?" I demanded.
"Because he's all you talk about when your friends are at the house. You just sit around and giggle about this boy." She smiled.
"Yes mum, I do like him. But I'm not trying to prove anything to him." I tried to hold back a laugh, we do talk about him a lot when the girls are over.
"Alright, I'll be back by midnight!" I called to my mum as I got out of the car.
"Have a good time sweetie!" She drove off, and I walked in to the dance.
"Sanne!" Harry's sister, Gemma, and one of my friends yelled, running over to greet me.
"Hey Gem!" I smiled, hugging her back. "Is uh-Harry her-" I started to ask
"Yes, Sanne, you are going to have a chance to hit on my brother some more tonight." She laughed. "But I will warn you. He brought her." She pointed over to Taylor, the girl who dates every boy at our school. Never longer than a month.
"Great." I mumbled, handing my ticket to the teacher running the dance.
"Right to the gym ladies." She pointed in the direction of the gym.
"Oh my gosh!" I gasped, looking around the room. It was beautiful. It had light strobe lights blinking on the ceiling, they were white, and purple. Ther was a disco ball, that made the room even more pretty. "It looks amazing!" I smiled.
"Right!" Gemma said, leading me over to our other friends.
"Harry just asked me if you were going to be here." Amber said once we reached them.
"No he didn't." I laughed, looking over to where I saw him standing just a minute ago. He was already looking at me, so to save myself the embarrassment, I smiled back.
He waved his hand like he wanted me to go talk to him. I'd never spoken to him before. This was the first time. "Girls, I'll be right back." I said, walking over to the adorable boy. His mop of curls was perfect tonight. It wasn't too curly, and it wasn't too straight.
"Hey, Sanne." He looked my up and down as he greeted me. "You look beautiful tonight." He smiled.
"Thank you." I was surely blushing at this point. “You look very night tonight as well.” I smiled. I realized his friends were watching us, so I smiled at them as well.
“Boys, why don’t you go get a drink or something.” Harry shooed them away, putting his arm around my waist, and walking me to the dance floor.
“I love this song.” He smiled, once I realized the song was Enchanted by Taylor Swift, I smiled. I like her music.
“Me too.” I laughed.
“Would you like to dance?” He asked. I looked down at our feet. We were swaying back and forth.
“It looks like we already are.” I looked back up to his adorable cut eyes.
“Why are you dancing with her?” His, who I thought girlfriend, Taylor asked.
“Um.” He looked between us for a second. “I’ll be right back.” He pulled Taylor to the side. He came back just a moment later. “Sorry about that.” He looked in to my eyes.
Just a few seconds later, the song ended. The DJ started to play Sexy and I Know It, so we got off the dance floor. “Would you like to walk outside with me?” He asked, taking ahold of my hand.
“Of course!” I said a bit too early. He smiled, but didn’t make eye contact. He walked me to the back door, and we started to walk around the school’s garden. “It looks beautiful out here with the lanterns on.” I smiled, looking up at the sky.
“It really is.” He looked up with me. “Sanne.” He stopped us for a moment, and looked right in to my eyes. He didn’t say anything for a minute. “I think you are the most beautiful girl at this school, and I would love it if we could start hanging out more.” He offered, but almost sounded like a plea.
“That would be amazing.” I smiled. He just said he thinks I’m the most beautiful girl at school.
“How about we go back inside.” I followed him back inside, and as soon as Taylor came in to sight, he dropped my hand.
I looked down, but didn’t say anything. And without another word, he walked off with Taylor. I looked down the hall, he looked tense, and he wasn’t holding her hand, so maybe he didn’t want to be with her?
But before I knew it, the tears came flooding down my face. He just left me alone, after telling me he wanted to hang out more I thought he liked me? I took off my heals, and ran out of the school. I lasted an hour, but I didn’t want to be there anymore.
“Sanne?” My mum asked once I got to the house. “What’s wrong?” She asked following me up half the stairs.
“I don’t want to talk about it!” I yelled, running to my room. I ran over to my CD collection and pulled out my Ed Sheeran CD. I turned on You Need Me, I Don’t Need You. As much I wanted to believe this, I knew it wasn’t true. I love this boy.
I flung myself on my bed, and started to cry some more. I heard a knocking at the door down stairs, but I ignored it. My mum will get it. “Sanne. There is a boy here. He says he wants to talk to you.” My mum walked in.
I knew before I got downstairs that it was him. “What do you want?” I demanded once I got down to him.
“I’m so sorry Sanne. That was so wrong of me to do. You are beautiful, and I don’t want anyone but you. You are the girl that I want. Not her.” He pulled me to a hug. I started to cry some more on to his shoulder.
“No you don’t. You just feel bad.” I mumbled.
“Sanne. If I just felt bad, I would’ve texted you, not come to see you and make sure that you’re okay.” He pulled me to the living room. “I love you Sanne. Please don’t forget that.” He kissed the top of my head, and started to stroke my hair. “Sleep, Beautiful.” I slowly fell asleep on his chest, with him singing The Way You Look Tonight to me.
