~AN: Hi babes! This is my very first story, I hope you like it as much as I do! Please let me know what you think, your opinion matters to me! Enjoy!~

(Rewritten 2025)

~AN: First of all—wow. I can't believe how far this story has come! When I first started this project 4 years ago, I wrote it straight from the heart, but now that I've grown (and my English has improved quite a bit), I felt it was time to give the story the rewrite it truly deserves. I wanted to smooth out the dialogues, add more emotion, and make the characters feel even more alive—while keeping the same magic that made me fall in love with this story in the first place.

Reworking these chapters has been such a fun and rewarding experience. I've been smiling, cringing, and occasionally tearing up while editing, and I can honestly say that I'm proud of how it's turning out. Writing is a journey, and this rewrite feels like a new chapter—both for me and for my characters.

Most importantly, I just want to say thank you. To every single reader who's been here since the beginning, who's left a comment, a vote, a message—you've made this entire experience unforgettable. Your support means the world to me.

So, here's to growth, to better writing, and to all of you amazing readers who believed in this story (and in me)! I hope you enjoy this new version as much as I loved rewriting it.

With love and way too much caffeine,

M.H. ~

Meet me and my family:

My name is Maria Pevensie. I'm eighteen, and the eldest of the Pevensie children. You may have heard of my siblings —people tend to remember them.

Peter is my oldest brother by a year. He can be insufferably stubborn, but he also has a heart as big as England itself—though he prefers no one notices. To the world, he is all steel and command; to us, he is a quiet protector.

Edmund is...complicated. He bristles like a cat when anyone treats him like a child yet acts like one often enough. I love him fiercely, nonetheless.

Susan is my younger sister, my confidante and occasional sparring partner in the way only sisters can be. And Lucy, our youngest, is the kindest and purest soul I've ever known—sunlight in human form.

Background

When World War Two broke out, my siblings were sent away to the countryside to live with an old professor for their safety. I was meant to go too—but I refused. I wanted to serve in a field hospital, to help those risking their lives so we could have ours. My mother fought me on it, but she knows my resolve. I would have gone with or without her blessing.

Peter promised me he'd keep the others safe while I was away.

War changes you. I learned more about the human body—and its fragility—than I ever imagined. I also discovered my passion for healing, even when the cost was high. There were moments I risked my own life on the battlefield to save another, and though it was dangerous, it was worth it.

When the war ended, I returned home longing to see my siblings again. The reunion was overwhelming, as if they hadn't seen me in years. Then they began telling stories about some place called Narnia, talking beavers, and a big cat who had saved them all. I looked to Peter for sense, but he only nodded solemnly.

I wasn't sure whether to believe them or send for a doctor...

Two things matter most to me: my work as a healer...and these lunatics that I call my family.
