Commander Hours [Punishing Gray Raven Fan-Fiction]

Volume 1: Chapter 5

[Commander's Office, 00:01 a.m]

The commander is in his office doing his usual stuff, writing some reports and a mountain full of paperworks.

"Hmmm... Lucia and Kamui sure is improving, Lee and Liv is still managed, as for Karen... she might need more room for improvement." He said to himself as he flipped the papers from the board that he holds. He yawned as he flipped closed the board before he looked at his hand watch.

"Hmmm... 2 hours early on paperworks, New record for tonight." He chuckles as he head outside the office and goes towards his dorm.

As he arrives at his dorm, he took off his shoes and puts it on a rack. Then, he threw his hat on a table beside him before plop himself onto the bed. He didn't even bother wore a blanket as he just drifted asleep quickly.

After some time, he slowly opened his eyelids and he saw his wardrobe is slightly open. He squinted his eyes to see closer and he saw a red glowing eye coming from it.

'SCARY!!' He screamed inside as he immediately turned around.

'Wha-wha-wha--wha--what's that!!! Calm down... Calm down me... maybe it's just my imagination...' He turned again to see if it's still there. Fortunately, it's not there anymore.

He closed his eyes and sighed in relief as he faced the ceilings of his room. He felt a small breeze that hit his lips and smells like strawberry for some reason.

He opened his eyes again. To his shock, he saw Alpha on top of him with her hands both beside the commander's head. Is it true that when you feel really surprised, you can't even scream or do anything. They were right. He just froze there, unable to move from this situation as she kept staring at his dead eyes with her scary looks. His breathing became ragged and stuffy.

"Found you, Gray Raven Commander~" She smirked devilishly as the commander let out a small screech.

The scene changes where the commander gasps and sit right up from the bed as he scream his lungs out. His breathing became hard and fast. He looked at the clock on the wall that points to 07:45 a.m.

It was only a dream.

Then he hear knocks on the door as he jolted a bit.

"Commander, are you awake?" A familiar voice called out, it was none other than Lucia herself.

"I-I'll be right there!" He responded as he immediately grab his hat from the table and wore it before he opens the door.

She looked at his face, noticed bags under his eyes and his rather pale face.

"Commander, are you okay..? Your face is rather pale." She inquired, leaning closer to his face. Close enough to feel her breath.

"I-I'm fine." He put his hands on her shoulder and gently pushes her a bit, creating some space for him. "Just spaced out a bit.."

"Is that so? If you feel uncomfortable, we can postpone today's mission." Lucia said.

"No, No, I'm fine. Anyway, about today's mission.."

"Yes. We can discuss with the others."

Without being said, they both went to the meet up room to discuss today's mission with the other members of gray raven.

After some time, they both arrived at the room as the doors slide open.

"You finally came. I almost thought you're gonna be late again for the most part." Lee spoke.

"Lee.. that's not very nice." Liv fired.

"Nah, what he said is true anyway. Hahaha." The commander chuckles.

"That aside, about today's mission-"

"-to investigate an Ascendant activity located at the far east of Murmansk. To be exact, two weeks since where we face to face with "That construct" and Rosetta's Dilemma." The commander continued, cutting Lee's word in the process.

"..." Lucia went silent after he said about that construct.

"An Ascendant appears there again? But it's only been two weeks after our last mission." Liv sounded surprised.

"Yes, whatever the case. We need to investigate it before it can do anymore potential damage." Lee said.

"And who knows we might run into them again." The commander added.

"I guess that adds up." Lucia agreedly nod.

"When shall we depart?" Liv inquired.

"The ship is under maintenance right now, we'll deploy in 3 hours." The commander replied.

"Roger that!" Three of them said in unison.

Kamui and Karenrina were sparring in the training room to test their improvements when on the battlefield. Clangs of metal and few small explosions ricochet inside the room.

"Tch! Damn it..." Karenrina drop one of her knees on the ground while her one hand leaning against her cannon.

"What's wrong, Karen? You're a lot slower than usual." Kamui concerned. "That's the third time you went down."

"Don't push your luck!" She swings her cannon at kamui as he dodge every attack she does and blocked some of it smash.

Nanami is on the edge of the room, watching them fighting with glimmers in her eyes. The commander came in as their fight kept going.

"Yo, Nanami." He called out.

"Ah! Hello commander!" She exclaimed.

"Are they still fighting?" The commander goes beside nanami and leans to the railing.

"They've been going about 2 hours." Nanami said.

"Well... can't blame her cause she did fail on her last mission."

Karen blast another round from her cannon towards kamui. Kamui saw this coming, but he didn't try to dodge the attack, Instead he waited until the perfect timing to counter. He raised his greatsword grip the handle tighter. As the round came close enough, he lift his sword a bit as blue lights emitted from his sword.

"Full Counter!" Kamui called out. He swing his greatsword and hit the round with the body of the greatsword as the round reflects and bounce back towards Karen. But the round is blue colored instead of red.

"Nani?!" The round is coming back faster then before. She had not time to dodge or parry the attack. She uses her cannon as a shield, hoping it would defend her from the blow.

The counterattack bounces her back and collided against the metal wall as smokes emitted the area.

"Daaaaaaayyyuum!" The commander and nanami exclaimed, flinched a bit and looked at each other in awe.

As the smoke clears out from the room, kamui can saw karenrina laying unconscious on the floor with some bruises and burnt marks.

"Ah, Karen! Are you okay?! Get a grip!" Kamui rushed towards her and checked her condition.

"Ah, someone called Liv." The commander sweatdropped.

"I'll go!" Nanami raised her hand before heading out from the training room to find Liv.

'Good grief...' The commander sighed as he smiles.
