Chapter 5

*Charlie P.O.V.*

      The day of the dance arrived and I decided to wear a red dress that complemented my emerald green eyes. I put on a light layer of makeup before my mom dropped me off at the school. I walked in and everyone stopped to stare. "Wow Charlie you look great," Bree said. "Thanks," I said. We walked into the gym together and everyone stopped to stare at us. "Charlie, you sure clean up nice. Isn't that the dress that Jack got you," Leo said. "Ohhh. Who's Jack," Adam teased. "An ex boyfriend. And no Leo, he did not get it for me. He picked it out and I got it," I said. "I'm swinging an invisible pickle," Chase yelled from a bit away. "Why does that sound like something Leo would tell him," I said looking at Leo. "What I just taught him the refrigerator dance," Leo said. "That's not even a real dance," I said before Adam walked off to dance with Danielle.

     It wasn't long before Chase joined me and we stood awkwardly for a moment. "So I see Leo taught you a nonexistent dance," I said. "Yeah," Chase said scratching his neck. "Did you learn it because you don't know how to dance," I asked. "Is it that obvious," he asked. "Yeah. Come on I'll show you some moves," I said taking his hand. We went out in the dance floor and I placed his hands on my hips and mine around his neck. "Now what," he asked. "Let the music guide you," I said. We began to sway to the music and I laid my head on his chest. I could hear his heart racing and let out a small laugh. "What's so funny," he asked. "Nothing," I said.

    Soon the music stopped and Leo showed off to Danielle with his aunt's book club. "He's such a show off," Chase said. "You're one to talk," I said. "I don't show off," he said. "Oh really. You don't think bragging about straight A's is showing off," I said. "Ok now I see what you mean," he said. "Thought so. I'm going to go to the bathroom. I'll be back," I said before going to the bathroom. "I promise you girls. She will pay for embarrassing me," Sarah said. I lifted my feet so that they couldn't see me. "So she's a better dancer. So what," Angela said. "No one is a better dancer than me. Not even that brat," Sarah whined. "I don't see why it is a big deal," Hannah said. "Because that little brat embarrassed me in front of the entire school," Sarah said. "To be fair you did that to yourself. You did gather the school for the show," Angela said. "I'm kinda going to miss her. It's too bad she quit, she was nice," Hannah said. "She's going to pay for embarrassing me, tonight," Sarah said. Not long later I heard the door open and then silence. "Oh no," I said to myself.

     I finished up before heading back to the gym. I was too busy looking around for Sarah to notice that I had run into someone. "Sorry," I muttered. "Hey. You look shaken Charlie," Bree said. "They have it in for me," I said. "Who," Chase asked. "Sarah, Angela, and Hannah," I said panicked. "I won't let them get to you," Chase said in a weird deep voice. "Uhh what's happening," I asked. "Uh oh. Spike is out," Bree said. "Spike? Who is Spike," I said confused. "His Commando App persona," Bree explained. "He only comes out when a major threat arises," Adam said. "And why would he come out when I'm panicking about Sarah and her crew," I asked as Chase or 'Spike', pushed me behind him. "Because Chase has a thing for you," Adam said. "1. What does that even mean. And 2. Can't he hear you," I asked. "Chase really like likes you and no when Spike takes over Chase doesn't remember anything that happens," Bree explained.

     "So how do you get Spike to go away. I don't want Spike to cause a scene," I asked frantic seeing Sarah approaching. "We haven't figure it out yet," Adam said. "He has to calm down and see no threat, it usually takes a few hours for Spike to disengage," Bree said. "By the looks of it, I'd say you need to think fast," Adam said. I looked over to see Sarah and her crew making a b-line for me. "You said Chase won't remember anything right," I asked. "Yeah? He hasn't remember anything yet," Bree said. "I will actually kill myself if he remembers this," I said before forcing 'Spike' to turn around. "I'm trying to protect you," he argued in his deep voice. "Just shut up and quit being difficult," I said grabbing his shirt collar and pulling him down, I then planted a soft kiss on his lips.

    When I pulled back I let him go. "Did it work," I asked. "What happened? Why did I disengage," Chase asked. "I can't believe it," Bree said as Leo rejoined us. "Hey I saw what happened from across the gym," Leo said wiggling his eyebrows. "Why did I go into commando mode," Chase asked running a hand through his hair. "It worked. Charlie broke Spike from his control," Bree said. "What how," Chase asked turning to me. "Another discussion for another time," I said seeing Sarah approaching. "Sarah," I said. "Charlotte," Sarah said. "I call for a rematch. This time skill of singing and dancing," Sarah said. I let out a chuckle. "What so funny loser," she said. "Nothing," I said. "And I'll even let you pick the song so that you can have some hope on winning," Sarah said.

     I walked over to the DJ and told him my song. (Song at top^^^. Charlie is Christina). First it was her turn to sing and dance but when it came to my turn she had the DJ cut the music. I stopped and she smirked causing me to smile in return. Then I began to belt out the tune while dancing to the DJ's makeshift beat before he continued to play the song. Sarah tried to backlash at me, but failed miserably. "Looks like you got shown up again, by a natural talent," Leo said getting in Sarah's face. She marched off, but her crew stayed. "Charlotte is there anyway you could forgive us," Angela said. "We tried to talk her out of it, but you know how she is," Hannah said. "I know. I heard you all in the bathroom," I said. "You were in there," Angela asked. "Yes. And to be honest she kinda scares me," I said. "Then how did you stand up to her so confidently," Hannah asked. "Not sure, I guess I will have to figure that one out," I said after glancing at Chase.
