I once again found myself back at Kayden's place. Thanks to my informants, I had successfully avoided another confrontation with Jake. It had been a month since the whole Immoral fiasco and I just wanted to put it behind me. No one could blame me, that I know, but Jake wanted to talk and I had a pretty good idea of what it was he wanted to speak about. How you might ask, well this man has started to look at me the same way Kayden looks at me. A little less intense. if anything but still the same nonetheless. That's a whole party-sized can of worms that I don't want to touch with a 16-foot pole. I haven't heard a thing from the 2 wicked witches but that doesn't mean they aren't plotting my downfall as we speak. Enough of that. Xavier and I had a sort of an unofficial official thing going on. He hasn't really asked for any more information about the situation either and I was thankful for that, I would tell him if he asked out of respect for what we had going on. However, he does seem to get a bit prickly whenever I hang out with Kayden. I've explained numerous times that there was nothing between us and he just responds that he knows. Speaking of Xavier, he asked me out on another date tomorrow. Where exactly, I don't know but Annie thinks he'll officially ask me to be his S.O. so that was exciting. We haven't really done anything sexual, hopefully, this is preliminary. I zoned back to the Netflix trilogy I had picked to re-watch. "I swear bitch, if ya'll don't fucking run" I whispered to myself wrapping the couches blanket around me a little tighter. I don't think anyone in the world understands the decision people in horror movies make. No minimum wage job is worth dying over. I watched with glee as the killer popped out from behind the shelf and narrowly missed the female employee's arm, making her scream in terror. "Listen to me next time, run miss ma'am, run!" I giggled under my breath, feeling the adrenaline pumping through my veins.
"BOOO!" I quickly jumped off the couch and swung my fist backward. "I don't...I don't understand why you watch... horror movies if you scare so easily" Kayden cackled holding my fist in his gigantic bear paw. "Kayden, stop fucking doing that, and there's no correlation between me loving scary movies and my being a scaredy-cat" I whined, pulling my hand from his and patting the space above my heart. He just doubled over and continued to laugh harder. Two can play that game, I took my chance and jumped over the back of the couch. Now, had this little maneuver actually gone smoothly, I would have him pinned on the ground. But I grossly miscalculated my trajectory and my foot ended up getting caught in between the cushion. I closed my eyes as my vision went horizontal, waiting for my impact with the floor but it never came. "You really shouldn't announce your sneak attacks by screaming, especially if you're this likely to fall" Kayden whispered in my ear. I opened my eyes and craned my neck in an awkward position to look at him and smirk. "I knew you'd catch me silly" I retorted resting my chin on his abdomen while the lower part of my body worked with him to keep me up by pressing into the couch. "Don't take advantage of me Han, you never know what could happen" it was meant as a joke but I couldn't help but take it to heart in light of recent events.
"I promise I won't" I reassured solemnly, we stared at each other for a while before he broke the silence. "You're avoiding Jake and you're bribing the twins to help you" he said pulling me all the way off the couch and onto my feet. "Those two can't keep their mouths shut, I even upped their payment to cookies and free laundry" I whispered, scratching my chin and thinking of ways to get back at them. "Actually Jake called yesterday-" "don't you dare tell me he's coming over" " like I was saying, Jake called to ask for advice" he interrupted my interruption with a pointed stare. I smiled meekly and waited for him to continue. "He thinks he's developing feelings for you" he said pulling me closer to him "you can escape talking to him but we're talking about it" he said locking his hands on my waist. "There's nothing to talk about, he's probably just confused about the kiss. I don't think he actually processed it until everything died down. With everything that's happened and that's bound to happen, you think it's a good idea to get into that. After everything we just laid to rest" I sighed exasperated, looking up at him. "No, and yes. I think he's in love with the idea of you. I told him as much yesterday. I think he still loves Cassey at least, I know he wants to make it work even with how fucked the situation is" he lamented putting his chin on top of my head. "That's good" I replied a little relieved. "But I think you should talk to him even if it's FaceTime or something, clearing this up is the best thing to do" he said opening and closing his mouth at the end of his sentence making the sound of his teeth chattering travel through my skull. "Why must you be the voice of reason" I sighed turning in his grasp and walking towards my discarded bag to grab my laptop, dragging him along.
