"We are here" Aneska announced quietly, stopping in front of what I had once called home.
Slowly I got out of the truck. Hearing the truck doors shut and footsteps walking towards me, I knew Aneska and Nathan stood behind me.
The Buildings are still destroyed or have been demolished. I swear I could still see smoke rise in the sky from the burnt down houses. The roads and streets had debris all over them, it was hard to make out if it was even a road.
I felt a hand place on my shoulder in support as I stared out in a daze. Debating to turn back now or was it too late?
"You alright Hazel?" Aneska now asked me. I nodded slowly back in response, not trusting my voice at all. I slowly walked forward making Aneskas hand fall back to her side.
"What now?" Aneska mumbled crossing her arms around her small figure, before making sure the truck was locked.
"We investigate" I whisper quietly.
Walking forward to what seemed to be a ghost town. My chocolate brown eyes travelled building to building, my feet guiding me to what my gut was telling me and before I realized it. I had stopped on the corner of a familiar street. I hesitated on going down the street but went anyways...
I had to, I wanted to. I needed this closure I have seeked for years.
"Hazel?" My named echoed the once lively city, making a cold shiver run down my spine.
"Down here" I called back. My eyes not leaving the demolished house that I had called home.
"Nathan is taking photo's- oh" Aneska stopped beside me following on where my eyes were. She bit her lips awkwardly. "You ok?"
"I'm Ok" I whisper back, even though it wasn't believable at all. I was glad Aneska played it off. "That's...good!"
The now burnt door-frame still surprisingly stood, but there was no front door. I sighed before walking through the doorway, being careful on where I stepped.
Inhaling sharply from the nerves, I coukd easily smell the gunpowder, smoke, ash and... death.
It lingered around here, the constant thought of them dying right here shook me to the core. Shaking my head, I dismissed the constant memories that dared to attack my mind and disregarded the emotions that struck me all at once.
My eyes caught on a shimmering object in the distance. Captivated, I walked to it with caution and curiousity.
I went into a crouching position once in arm's distance of the object, sighing I picked it up. I felt a wave of energy that felt like electricity vibrate through my body and bones, I shook off the feeling with a shudder instantly.
"What is it?" Aneska's voice echoed to me, making me jump. I totally forgot that Aneska still stood thetr.
I tilted my head slightly at the silver object I held, I was unsure of it myself. I have never seen anything like it, ever.
The object seemed to be a silver shard of something with weird symbols imprinted on it. It shimmered in the sunlight. "I don't know" I respond dully, confused by it.
Standing back to my full height and walking over to her. "Let's show this to Nathan, maybe he would know" I say with a frown, unsure if he would, but it seemed...robotic.
Walking to where I last saw him, Aneska immediately followed. "Found anything?" Nathan asked us two automatically, he leaned against the black truck. It was obvious he found nothing useful himself.
