I flipped through the pages of a textbook with everyone else but instead of chatting, my lips stayed clamped shut. I was the only one who didn't speak. As I started putting down the vocabulary that Mr. Day told is to put down using the textbook, the intercoms turned on.

"Mr. Day?"

"Yes?"

As he and the person on the intercom spoke, my dorm mate leaned back in his chair and looked at me. "So, what you doing tonight?" I blinked at him then focused back on my work. He turned and rested his chin on his hands and continued staring at me. "Come on," he whined. "You've not spoken to me for a month already. Let's ch-"

"Leave me alone Daren." I said.

"Mr. Day, sorry for calling again." The class chuckled.

"It's alright." Mr. Day replied. Daren opened his mouth but the intercom was slightly louder than him.

"Is miss, Veronica in your class?" My confusion made me slowly set down my pen and I didn't care that I was staring at my roommate's chest as I listened to the com.

"Indeed she is." Mr. Day answered looking at me. "She in trouble?"

"Her mother's here."

With that I threw my pen to hit the com, cutting the person off. "Tell her to Fuck off." I snarled up at the speaker.

"Miss Veronica Dail!" My mother's voice called through the coms. My anger flared more. Everyone looked confused at the last name she used.

"It's Veronica Baileys." I yelled at her.

"Excuse me-?"

"You lost the damn privilege to call me. Go screw yourself over."

Silence filled the air and I snapped my fingers angrily, getting my pen back and went back to my vocabulary. Silence filled the air until the door slammed open.

I looked up, clenching my pen in my hand and my glare met angry hazel ones. A man I didn't recognize and a little kid I didn't recognize came in right afterwards.

"I don't have time for this." I sighed packing my stuff then walking to a window tossing my bag out onto the floor that wasn't that far away.

"Veronica, don't you dare run away again." She snapped. I leveled a dry gaze at her and grabbed a nearby book, chucking it at her face. Everyone scrambled away.

"Now you know how it felt when you fucking left me and dad." My fists clenched as she pulled the little boy behind her out of the way of the book. His hazel eyes curiously peeked out from behind her. "And it seems like you made yourself a new damned family to replace us."

"We're going home and I want my money back." She snapped. Our attitudes made arguments last a long while. Another little boy, this one I did slightly remember came in and walked over to me and wrapped his arms around my waist.

"Ver? Please let's go home." He whispered, his soft caramel eyes looking up at me.

"I should've known." I said in a dead tone looking between the four of them. "And that money you've been asking for isn't yours. I earned it so you can Fuck off." I snapped. "Don't ever expect me to live with you." My finger aimed at her. "If you left me once, it doesn't stop you from leaving me again. Plus, my life was better without you in it, Marideth."

"It's mom to you, and was it really better without me? I heard Gerald went crazy and killed-"

"You don't get to talk about dad. Now go away. No one wants you if you don't want them." I turned, prying Ryan's small arms from around me and jumped through the window, landing on the soft grass. I picked up my bag and slung it over my shoulder. I ignored the angry shouts behind me as I walked away to my dorm. After a while of banging in my door, me blaring music through my earbuds, and doing homework while lying on my bed, the door opened and my dorm mate walked into our dorm bringing a friend and they walked into my room. Daren pulled my earbuds out of my ear and sat nearly on my homework if I didn't move it.

Sitting up, I put my stuff in my bag and walked over to the window and looked out at the horizon. Daren's friend stood in the middle of the room under the fan. His reflection in the glass, made me tense and I closed my eyes, trying to push out the image of him hanging, the wound on his chest growing.

"Veronica, this is my friend Kyal. Kyal, this is Ver." Daren introduced us. My eyes stayed tightly shut, my mind reeling as I tried fighting the image playing over and over in my mind.

"Kyal, please move." I said tensely. I heard the shuffle of feet and slowly opened my eyes, his reflection showing him leaning against the wall confused. The confusion reflected on Daren's face but I didn't bother explaining. "And only Ryan can call me Ver." And... Skylar... I thought.

"Anyway, Ver, do you wanna have drinks later? You look like you need a drink." I glared at him once he said Ver. He didn't blink.

I sighed and agreed, which brought me to a club closed for us huge group of college students.
