Destin

Her house was about a 15 minute drive from mine. So, I cruise all the way there. Stopping for flowers on the way before pulling up to a cute almost secluded bungalow. I noticed how calm her demeanor was early, beside her obvious anxiety, now I could see why. She found her own little cabin in the woods in the middle of the city.

I double taped on the dark, wooden door and waited until I heard shuffling on the other side.

"Hey, come on in," she said, breathing heavily ushering me into her earthy living room. The room was monochromatic earth tones with plants galore. So caught up on a new intimate thing I got to know about her, I almost forgot to hand her the flowers I stopped for on the way here.

"I wasn't sure about these," I looked around again, smiling with pride. "So, I'm happy to see you're a plant person."

"Sunflowers are actually my favorite," she grinned. "Thank you so much. I'll put these in water, and we can go."

I watched her disappear around a corner and continued to assess her living room before noticing someone else in the room.

"Hi Brinique, how've you been," I asked looking directly at the small woman. She dates Alfonso Romero, who is my client but has become more of a friend. We have different lifestyles but he's a good guy.

"Good, would be better if you weren't snatching my best friend away for the night." She looked me up and down sucking her teeth.

"I'm not going to apologize for that," I chuckled. And I wouldn't.

"I like you; I hear you're a good dude," she said smiling. "But about Karis," she looks up, notices Karis walking into the room and whispers, "I will kill you."

She went back to her phone like she hadn't just threatened my life and I smirked. I spent my days making literal murderers sounf like angels, a small women put no fear in my heart.

"Ready?" Karis asked from behind me.

I nodded heading toward the door.

Karis quickly hugged her friend and said "Nique I know you threatened to kill him. We'll talk about that later. Love you, see you later."

I walked her to the passenger's side of the car, opening her door and waiting for her to step in before closing the door and rounding the car. Getting in I reached over to buckle her seatbelt, smelling her unique scent. She smelled so good, like cocoa butter and Jasmine. It was intoxicating.

After buckling her in I put the car in drive and turn up the music driving to our destination. I expected her to ask where we were going but surprisingly, she didn't. She rode quietly, singing along to the music and watching the streets as we passed them.

After about 30 minutes we pulled up to the roller rink and she smiled widely at me.

"Okay, you're cute. I'm not even gonna lie," she said looking at me like I had given her the world.

My ego shot to the sky. I felt so proud that I got it right. She'd mentioned it earlier, but I wasn't sure if she was joking. Anyway, she didn't act like the typical wine and dine girl, so I thought outside the box.

"When will you learn, doll? I am very good at getting it right." She just smiled and I hopped out round the car to open her door. When I got to her door, she quickly slammed it and I laughed. We were gaining an understanding.

"See, I may not follow directions as well as you, but I do follow them," she giggled as I led her into the skating rink. Where I paid our entry fee and went to grab us both a pair of skates.
