It's been a while since I did one of those, but here's my take on responsibility.

I think that humans are very irresponsible beings, at least most of them, we may for example like complete tasks that we were assigned to do, or then again sleep well, eat well and in time, but i think that is only because of our survival instinct, hear me out you do what your mom tells you for example because you don't want her to scream at you or scold you, not because you think it should be done at that time, and I know this is kind of a specific example, but it can apply to many things, like if your boss tells you to do something, you would just to not get fired.

And like that the definition of responsibility in our minds evolved from being related to others to relating it to ourselves, if you look for the definition of it you will find "the state or fact of having a duty to deal with something or of having control over someone." I copied it so you don't look for it, so now just to explain what I mean a little bit more let me go back to the first two examples, your mom tells you to do the dishes so she pushes that responsibility that the parents have, which is taking care of the house and the children, into you, her child, she chose to have you, so technically she has control over you and by that i definitely mean she should take care of you, like have your parents ever asked you why you didn't do something, and your response was you didn't tell me to do it, my theory is that deep inside we all are aware that we are not responsible for that house so we can't decide on things on our own in it.

And again it applies well for the other example too, like your boss owns the place so technically they should do all the stuff in it, since they can't do that they push that responsibility into other people that they pay to complete tasks for them.

And finally I've got a question for you, do you follow the rules because you think it's the right thing to do, or is it because you're afraid of punishment or judgement?

Am i overthinking this? Am i just not responsible?
