Where do I even start? Actually, I'm not sure too. It has been a very long journey and I'm not even exaggerating. It really was.
Nine years ago, I started college with the hopes of becoming a professional basketball player. It's been my dream ever since, because basketball was once my passion.
But like they say, expect the unexpected. Stupid, some says, but I really thought that I could take all her pain away one day if I studied medicine and become a doctor. I shifted to Medicine Technology which shook everyone. I'm not even sure what was shocking about it. I'd make a pretty good doctor, right? 😁
On my third year in the course and my fourth year of college, a lot of things happened. At that time, all I wanted was to stop, to give up and to just vanish from the world just like everyone else.
But then I remembered my sister, I remembered her favorite words: carpe diem. It means seize the day. And because of those two words and because of her, look where I am now. I'm finally getting that title. I'm finally graduating.
This is just the start of another journey. I just want to say thank you to my parents for always supporting me no matter what. For believing in me even when people said that I was a wasted talent. Without you, I wouldn't be the person I am today. I love you both so much.
To Barcelona, thank you. You know how much I owe my life to you. You saved me when I was drowning and you kept me going, and for that, I'm always grateful that I met you and our paths crossed once.
To my co-doctors, Ryca, Maku, Yssa, Dave and Andy, we finally made it, you guys! Thank you for being my friends all through those years of sleepless nights and breakdowns. We'll be seeing each other again soon.
To my friends, Alfie, Migo, Rean, Phillip and Greg, thank you for everything. You guys are my OG since day one. We may have had a rough patch, but whatever happens, you'll always be my brothers no matter what.
To Fabian, hope you're happy now. This one's for you too. I just wish we had more time, but that's life. I know you're always up there and guiding us.
To the Man above, thank you. I may have lost my way, but I'll always come back to You. You are the best.
And lastly, to my sister, Arena, I know this is what you wanted for me, that's why I fought for it until the very end. I'm here now and how I badly wish that you could see me now. Wherever you may be, just know that I'm always thankful for everything and the mark that you left in everyone's lives. Thank you for being my inspiration. You know how much I love you and how much I wish you were here with me, giving me my medals, being with me in my creative shot, hugging me after I received my award and telling me how much you're so proud of me. Life will never be the same without you.
